![]() ![]() | started some costa ricans
Well some little projects finally came time to fruit. They all started with BRF jars and some ended up getting mixed with poo/verm to make some "bricks". Too much was made so to save space everything was stacked on one another. The cakes still refuse to pin but the bricks just started. One of the cakes got a spot of green on it so it got yanked out and put in the plants on the patio. After that everything was removed and the pearlite was sprayed with bleach water. BIG mistake putting everything back in with the fumes in there. Within 20 min everything turned blue and i thought the flush was lost. They're still recovering but they didnt turn out as bad as expected. i'm trying to be positive about it. The fruit seem small but the ones that popped up outside look about the same. Being used for fresh air are about 7 holes with polyfill and an pickle jar rigged a fogger on a timer and a fishtank pump constantly pushing air in from the lid, i know it seems kinda trashy but it seems to work well. The pearlite isnt misted just the humidity from the jar pump is used, it stays at about 90-95% and has ruined 2 digital gauges already (walmart brand). Has anyone had experience with this strain? Would love some suggestions. |

you know at first i thought it was too and sprayed with H202 and set growth back quite a bit but its just mycelia- this hasnt been rhizomorphic at all. The darker spots arent grey but blue because of the bleach fumes. Luckily its starting to clear up again.

Bleach will set you back a bit. Hopefully those cakes will recover nicely. It sounds as though you need a bit more fresh air. I would suggest manually fanning your grow a few times a day. And you can add salt to your perlite instead of bleach. Just add the salt and hydrate in a strainer. Salt will keep the perlite very clean without any toxic fumes. You can also mist the walls of your grow chamber if you think the humidity is a little low. If you have a couple inches of perlite, you shouldn't need anything else. Good luck. |

Thanks for the neat idea, salt was added to the pearlite to help keep things clean. A bigger pump was added to push air through the chamber and it did seem to help fruiting. The second flush yeilded bigger fruit, but that might be expected anyway. After that, the bricks were put outside into some flower pots to keep em goin there and make room for some Amazons that were ready to go. Wow, they might not get their name just because of origin, but just starting out they seem huge compared to the Costa Ricans- maybe they like the environment better also. The costa ricans outside kept goin too. Some were added to a chacruna plant that needed some pampering after a rough time with aphids, the neem mixture was a little strong and burned some leaves. ![]() live n learn |
