Rez-Effect Ecuador Grow Log

Hello folks,
I decided to share my Ecuador grow log using Rez-Effect Tek...
1. Made Ecuador isolation on PDA.
2. Made four 800 ml rye berries jars
3. Made coco-verm mix (60% coco, 40% verm)
4. Mixed coco-verm with colonized rye berries in ratio 1:1
5. Put coco-verm mix on the bottom of tray
6. Put 0.5 cm (1/5 inch) layer on the top.
7. Two days trays stayed in incubator, until some myc showed up on the top.
8. FC is filled with water, but to minimize bacterias and spores in water, I added salt in ratio 1.5 kg for 5 litres (30%)

I would put those back in the incubator for a few days until the tops were almost completely colonized.

Top layer is pretty thin, 0.5 cm, so it will colonize fast enough.

Looking great! Can't wait to see these flush. I've had great experience with using a bottom casing layer and it really helps certain strains proliferate more efficiently. Great job Fungiman.

Here it comes. Some freaks and mutants. It seems to me I did too much transfers before getting monoculture and here's the result, myc got old and gives mutations

Those are some fat pins for Ecuadorians. The deformed shrooms almost look like verticulium, but I am not sure. I do hope I am wrong. Keep us updated.

It's not verticulium, it's just bad genetics, which gives such freaks. Probably made too many isolations and myc got old. Next will do MS innoculation.

It is good to start over with MS. I have never attributed senscence to malformed fruitbodies, though. Hopefully the rest of your fruits will grow normally.

I've often found deformed fruits on stressed cakes into their 4th or 5th flush. I always thought this was always a sign of fungal senescence. Sometimes first flushes can fizzle out on you like that. Let's see how they mature!

Could it have rosecomb? That could have happened while you were making transfers, just a little exposure to cleaner is all it takes.

May be you're right. I used cleaner to clean trays and other parts.

Could be anything. May just be the strain, eq is known to have weird looking fruits sometimes.

I have never heard that about EQ. It looks like a disease to me.

I agree MLB, seems to be more of a disease IMO, doesn't really look like verticullum though. Vert would have cinnamon brown lesions on the cap, and parallel lines running up the stem similar to racing stripes.

Rosecomb on the other hand can cause your fruits to look like this-

See the one with the cap pushed in? To the right of the one with wings for gills?

Yes, I am with you, KC. I thought it was maybe vertic. from the first batch of pictures. But sometimes you can get one or two weird shrooms and the rest be fine. If it starts happening to other fruits, well, it is just bad
