wbs in 1/2 pints? Okay I've heard that 1/2 pint grain jars are great for g2g's because they colonise really fast. The recipies I've seen are for rye and I can't get any rye berries or other whole grains around here. Trust me, I'm very resourcefull, I've looked within 20 miles of here. So, my question is, how much finch seed and water to use for the 1/2 pints?

I did pints last night using your easy bird seed recipe. Worked great too by the way. For the pints I used 3/4 cup seed, filled, let sit 15 minutes, drained, added 1/8 of a cup of water or (2 tablespoons), pc'd for 90 minutes. Shook while hot. For the half pints, I'd do 1/3 cup seed, add 1 tablespoon water before pc. Maybe my math is wrong ![]() I just figured my pints went well, so cut that in half? Let us know how it works, I too do half pints for g2g jars. Only I've soaked and simmered and drained. So I didn't have to measure, just fill 2/3-3/4 full in a half pint to allow for expansion. No need to really have shacking room I would think.

As soon as you do get a camera, definitely do a write up of your easy birdseed tek. It went smooth and easy for me. Since I don't use Rye, this was the quickest I've ever prepped grain jars and had them ready. It was really nice, thanks for sharing it. Can't wait to hear how the half pints go. I'd like to make some of them up for g2g purpose also ![]()
