All you US peeps that use straw.... I have been reading recently that some do not use straw in the summer time. Is it basicaly futile to attempt straw this time of year? This makes me feel better about always having three shits of a time with straw this time a year, it all makes sense now.

hmm have not heard about this so cannot vote. All i know is foaf is using straw and um its summer. Only one contam and it was because i just threw some spawn in the bottom of the almost empty bag of straw and let it sit... looked fine for a while then contam'd from the inside out.

I can still get at least one or two flushes on straw in summer before things go green. The size of the flushes makes it worth while even if you only get one flush IMHO. Here is an LB style grow done outdoors last summer. It only gave a few shrooms on the second flush before it went green. |

Can't vote because I'm not knowledgeable about straw, but I have a big ol' bag of it colonzing nicely with pearl oysters. So far no sign of contams and the myc is ripping it up nicely.
