I am broke so money cannot be spent... I have a b+ straing growing right now and it needs to be picked probably yesterday so i was hoping to start the process tonight as soon as i got some solid advice.... As i was saying i am broke and was hoping there might be some easy ways and/or "ghetto" ways that i might be able to still dry them and have them look presentable... Im not looking to have the best perserved shroomies ever... just something that will work

I chose the EQ strain I have tried B+ and Amazonian, but like EQ for the intensity and the speedy feeling I get. I am wanting to try the Pan Cyan in the worst way maybe I'll be lucky enough to trade for a print and try an experiment with them. I hear they require a bit more skill than the cubeis. Dry on a paper towl for three days (not covered!) or so, go to the post office and get a tyvek envelope or 10 and toss the shrooms in the envelope and toss that into the veg. crisper in the fridge for several days.

using a simple old fan will do the job, and just remember that heat is bad so try to avoid using it. oh yeah and if you have a dehumidifier place them near that foaf has had good luck using one in a pinch. Air conditioners also dehumidify the air so it may also be an option

the best way i ever found to dry is on the back of a box fan. prop it off the floor blowing towards the floor, put a bit of porch door screening on the back and lay the mushies in it. it will pull air through the mushrooms drying them in about 24 hours (depending on the rH where you live.) if you were to produce a lot of mushrooms, with some 2 x 4s and a bit of plywood, you can build columns where box fans slide in and out. just my 2 cents |

Fans work really well. Once mine are cracker dry I store them in a baggie which is put in a container that contains desiccant to ensure they stay that way.

EQ and B+ seem to grow large and consitantly. And that translates into more dried goodies for your efforts. A drying technique thats works quite well consists of two, case sized plastic soda pop containers. Place newpaper in the bottom one, along with your fresh goodies, making sure to spread them out as best as possible. Otherwise, a mound of mushies may start to mold prior to drying, and that can not only lead to unpleasant taste, but could possibly lead to the growth of unhealthy contams. Better safe than sorry in my book. Anyway, after your goodies are spread out somewhat equally, place a couple of loose newspaper pieces on top to completly cover the contents. Then, placing the other upside down plastic pop container on top of your goodies tray will allow plently of air flow. If one wishes to expidite this process and be more discrete in the process, placing a thin t-shirt, or dress shirt on top of your creation and tucking it in under the bottom crate, while turning on the fan on low, works great. Even if loosely sealed this method can cut down on the amout of spores circulating in the room. This may prove espically helpful if you are space wise reduced to having to use a glove box later on in the same room. |

They are always a little more potent when fresh and they taste way better. I was mostly just saying it to razz the dude a little, kind of "no need to worry about drying if you eat them all fresh." Just being an ass, sorry!

I picked B+ cause from what I've read, that's most likely the strain I have experience with... Hopefully in a few weeks I'll finally get to eat my Hawaiians, and not long after my Reality Benders. After that, I have a syringe of Penis Envy as well as a syringe of NAN (bing) that I plan on working with...
