I should have included user names, kinda meant to. But if some one has a user name, sig, or avatar you don't like much, or do like, would it influence your take on what they post. Could it cause you to prejudge?

Not at all, look at my name... WTF has that got to do with anything?? Matters much more what you say and how you say it, then what art you're into, or why you came up with the name you did, IMO...

and someone else can have a picasso pimped out avatar and be a ninny

i personally never really corelate the two.
i look at the avatar and kinda remember them like a face to a name.
but i never look at it then read a post and add them both together
one of my favorite avatars is of a member here
fuck i cant think of his name
but its of a chimp
with a space helmet photoshopped on
with lil antenna and all
and its done pretty badly
but i fuckin LOVE it

but hes a smart guy
it all really matters little to me
as long as the info in the post is either entertaining
or informative

i dont even really notice the avatars as much. although i do think there are some really creative ones. i really just try to focus on the content and absorb it.

depending on the avatar, it can be a reflection of humor, beliefs, or just one's artistic taste. Never judge a book by its cover, or a user by his avatar.

It really depends on the avatar and sig and their meanings. Most things I either appreciate or don't, but it has no aspect on my opinions of the owner. Other times, when people use sigs as a dig against others, I judge that person instead. It's all in the meaning.

You also have to look at the reality behind it. No matter how silly, there is always (mostly anyway) some truth. Would a christian have a screen name "I_Worship_the_Devil" with an upside down picture of the crucifix? Probably not. Nor would we see the name "I.hate.(insert group here)" from someone who accepts and loves all people. If we were to see that, we could make at least some basic assumptions of the user. So if something were to come along that I did find offensive, I can't say that I wouldn't think less of the person.

At the end of the day, we're here as individuals trying to be a part of a bigger special interest community. So as long as we don't get too repulsive/offensive or too pushy with our beliefs, we should all be ok with the self-expressions of our comrades.

but by my view, your avatar and quote are an option to give people an impression of you
because we can not meet in real life we can not get that vibe you get from talking to people
SO our avatar and quote are our only options to help people understand who we are

now i think the name is more a stive to be differnt then all the other names, but it is also another chance to help people understand who we are, knowledgeble or not.

mine is starscream, its not sexual in any way (and is usualy thought to be)
its based on a transformer, it has no relation on who i am, but it is unique, and that was the key.

But my quote and my avatar have a huge relation to who i think i am and what i want to acomplish in this life.
Which is exactly what i get from people when i have the chance to look at them and see what is behind there eyes.

And since we can not do that here, the avatar and the quote is the next best thing.

I think it is fun to change up your avatars every once in a while... but.. you come to identify other members by thier avatars, and this is very nice, afeeling of farmiliarity, but mybe as the last vote option si\uggests not neccicarily entireley a good thing..

if the username and avatar and sig combined seem to indicate that the person is crazy or extremist in a serious manner where you can't really discuss with them it'll set off a warning in my head but i'll give 'em a chance first either way

I like how the avatar changes to the current in old threads. It helps me go back to old threads and quickly find who I'm looking for by looking for the current avatar.
