    Have you met someone?

I recently met a fellow member of Topia,so I thought I'd start this poll out of curiosity.

Im wondering how many Members here have actually met up with fellow Topia members. No names required.

You haven't included a "Yes, but he was weird and totally freaked me out" option

ive never met anyone, there are a few people im friendly with on here, and seem cool enough to hang with. but its a taboo thing i guess. for me to every meet anyone, id have to trust them a lot lot lot lot lot (you get the idea). its not the honest members of topia that im weary of, but you know what im getting at. its a double sided blade i suppose.

oh btw, glad to see your meeting went well.
i have a great time in chat, so im sure hanging in person with people like that would be even cooler

No never have but if it where to ever happen it would be at a festival like Bonnaroo, Telluride or maybe a local event. Someone would just come up recognizing the 'Topia shirt you know.

    Peace...

I know that there are couple 'topiates that live near me but I have never met one. I do know that a certain ex-topiate that isn't liked by many people in this community lives just a couple miles from me. It's a small world after all...

I met someone a couple of years ago, I was a bit cautious at first but it worked out fine, we met at a show and no other identifying info was exchanged so it was OK.

I almost met a member. I was trading with him, some poppy seeds for a print, if I recall correctly. I sent him an e-mail with my addy, and he replied with a note that said something like "there are three trees across the parking lot from your window. Look in the crotch of the biggest one." Freaked me right out! Turns out he lived within a mile of me. I got the seeds, but he went on vacation and then stopped answering my e-mails, so he never got a print or met me. Not that I'm offended or blame him. He had been showing off his stashes on the Topia and they were fairly impressive. I wouldn't let a stranger anywhere near them

Thanks for the seeds buddy. You know who you are!

i met a member about a week ago, thought he was a pretty cool guy too!
had a beer together and chatted for a bit but unfortunately i was in a hurry and didn't spend as much time as i would of liked with him.
anyway i'm sure we will bump into each other again!

I met several folks from the site... I met a few at Bonnaroo and a few in other ways, either I went over their house or they came over mine... All good folks, except for one or two... I don't mind meeting people at shows but for home visits I have to really feel comfortable with them, even though I don't ever have much at my house... Overall, I am glad to have met the people I have from Mycotopia...

lol, yeah, that's a lasiodora parahybana the brazilian salmon pink bird eating tarantula... Everyone at the tarantula forums says that the 'bird eater' title is over used by the pet industry and is based on an 18th century drawing by some naturalist... But I've seen pics of one of these bad mambo jambos eating a bat so it can't be too far off. And besides frogs and gold fish he loves baby mice...can't wait til he'll eat a grown one...

This one is only about half way to full size, they reportedly can get up to an 11" legspan. It's ok, don't worry he hasn't figured out how to open the lid on his terrarium yet... I'll get a lock for it one of these days, but I've held him and he's just a big 8 legged teddy bear. But I could go on about tarantulas for hours its the only hobby that really competes with my mycophagia. If anyone needs help getting past such a silly and useless phobia as arachnophobia, I'd be happy to help, and not in a toss my T on you for quick therapy kinda help, but like real help.

I'd love to meet some fellow mycotopiates, and meeting at shows/concerts/festivals sounds like the best way to do so. Too bad there's nothing going on on the left coast from what I know...

The way I figure it I'm sure I'm gonna meet a few people this summer at bonnaroo, and given the things I've done in my life I'm not too sketched on meeting most of these people. I've talked to the ones I'll see enough to know they're cool.

One xmas morning I woke up in an alley after e-partying with Ridder and the Hipster only to find Hippie dressed up (well most of the way) like Santa and I was cuddled up with some bitch dog... does that count?

btw The Mycotopia t-shirt is a great idea for festivals and the like.

I wear mine regularly, but have yet to have anyone say anything.
There was this one guy at the Whole Food Market though that did like a triple take on the T-shirt, but he never said anything.

I'll find ya... You may be able to spot me as well, keep an eye out for me, I'll be on one of the main shakedowns most of the time, or maybe even down that back road... You'll know where I mean when you look at the map... I'll try to get a topia shirt before I go or maybe I'll make a PB shirt, we'll see how the funds are...

LOL Good stories and thats a cool pic of your tarantula.

Only had one bad exp early on in my net 'life' with someone formerly with 'topia. Caused me to hone my security measures.

Since then every experience I've had meeting folks from Mycotopia/TheNook/The Donkey has been great. Travelled to AK to spend a week partying in a motor home with 6 folks from 'topia/thenook and made lifetime bonds.
