What is your favorite RUSH album?

It's tough a tough one for me, but I'd have to say Permanent Waves.

The poll does not include any LIVE albums, compilation albums, or cover albums.

I don't have a favorite...It just depends on my mood. I have been a rush fan since elementary school though.

I guess that if I had to pick it would be Grace Under Pressure or Signals though.

Then again Farewell to Kings rocks too...hell they are all pretty damn good to me. I'm stickin with the first statement "depends on the mood".

Hemispheres!~ The album is a total trip! Me & a buddy bought the 1st album back in '74 cuz the dudes on back had long hair and looked cool. Been atotal fan since. First tour was Farwell to Kings(Dec. '77 Edgar Winter opened!) Haven't missed atour since! Definetly some excellent mind music, took me out there and set my feet back on the ground a many of time. The total professionalism put out at a live performance is inspiring to say the least. One of the top bands of all time in my opinion!

Have loved Rush since I was a child. They were the first concert I ever saw. As far as picking songs, it is too much like picking a favorite color. It all depends on the mood. A good song can make you feel a certain way if you let it. Rush has a few of these.

Hard to have a favorite, Geddy is one of my influences as a bass player. But Moving pictures was a big album in my high school years.
yes I did say album, my kids have no idea what one is.

The new "Snakes & Arrows" is really good, too.

I must have listened to it (at least) 50 times by now.

They are by far one of the best live bands on the planet (IMO).

I'm in love with practically all their albums, however Power Windows is just superb. Grand Designs, Manhattan Project, and Marathon are timeless for me.

Close behind would probably be 2112, A Farewell to Kings, and Moving Pictures.

Can't argue with you there. Power Windows is incredible. One of my all-time favorites is on that album: "Territories".

Territories is an all time fav, love that line "Better People- Better Food-and better beer" ,pretty much sums it all up! Also a cool little tidbit, La Villa Strangiato is supposed to be a musical recreation of Alex's nightmares!

can i please take this opportunity to reccomend yyz on guitar hero? you have not experienced the true majesty of rock til youve sat there with a little plastic guitar making clicking noises trying to get 100percent (fucking impossible i might add)

yeah,my son jams on the 'guitar hero',some. He can get a 96% on medium on YYZ. Did you Know, YYZ is the 3 letter identity code for Toronto International Airport & the beggining part of the song is actually morse code identity signal for the airport! I love all the little subliminal stuff these guys throw at ya!

I actually knew that one. He plays the code on cowbells or the chimes. Neal is a pretty interesting character. I started to read ghostrider but set it down due to required reading, I cant wait to get back to it.

i did not know that, very interesting. i do think that some of the subliminal stuff has inspired quite a few prog bands to try too hard to be clever

I voted for "Permanent Waves"....from "Hemispheres" to "Signals" are my absolute faves, but Waves just seems to have the right balance of everything that makes Rush so kick-ass...to my ears, anyway.

I must say, "Counterparts" was excellent, but everything after that to the present just doesn't grab me like the classic stuff.

Do you have "Snakes And Arrows"? It's hard to say, but, it might just be their best ever. It's a masterpiece. There's a great article by Neil Peart I found hidden on their website:

    Dang, this poll is tough!

    I mean Red Barchetta...come on!

    Then you got, Natural Science.

Then you got, Between the Wheels.

    Then you got, Resist.

    Then you got, Territories.

And so much more spread all over the place....But if I gotta choose one, it would be A Farewell to Kings, CTTH was our wedding song.

I went with Hemispheres but it was a tough call. Just got a new copy of it after I gave mine to a bass student of mine a while back, great album. La Villa is one of my all time favorites by anybody.

I will definitely try to see them again tis summer.
