average growth time PF tek spore to harvest

Hi,
I am interested in finding out how long on average people here estimate it takes to grow a crop of shrooms. This would be from innoculation to harvest.

I should have added that this would be for multispore cubies, no LC. Normal PF tek basically.

I have some crazy ideas for how to speed things up and am trying to establish a baseline to shoot for.

oops...i missed the "PF" part ..i was thinking bulk....so it may be a bit longer ,like 6 or 7 weeks.

I almost always get some fruits by day 33. I am using pints, and have only three inoculation holes (less work to make the lids, I just shoot 1/3 more into each hole). I should add that the syringes I make are very, very dark with spores, and I like to shoot new jars a day or two after making the syringes as the spores are extremely fast sprouters when that fresh (I see signs of sprouting within 36 hours). I also just dump the cakes into the fruiting chamber with no casing or moist vermiculite added. The strain is PE6.

I remember reading a post from PF where he said that fresh spores were one of the top three factors in making a good syringe.

Can't remember the other two unfortunately.

Signs of germination after 36 hours eh? THATS fast. How long do you wait after you print till you make the syringe. Just a couple of days?

I'm with you on the dark syringe idea. No reason not to use large amounts of spores since they are basically limitless.

Chill: I set the cap in the shortest, smallest mason jar (I think it's 4 ounce) with the band holding a filter disk as the lid (some gas exchange, keeps inside of jar from getting too humid). I PC the printing jar before putting in the cap. I leave the cap in for a couple days, until there is a good, dark print visible. As soon as I take out the cap, I draw up some PC'd water (with 1/2 a drop of Jet Dry) into a syringe (usually 60cc), then shoot it at the print. I also have a butter knife that I ground the tip into a screwdriver-like flat tip to scrape the spores off the bottom of the jar so they get sucked up in the syringe (knife is PC'd wrapped in foil). I do this in front of a flow hood.

I stick a clean safety pin into the cap before cutting it as a handle, and leave it in place for quick and easy removal from the jar. This also requires the right sized cap; I prefer one that is slightly larger than the base of the jar so it doesn't rest on the bottom of the jar but 'hovers,' which I find makes the spores easier to mix up into the water, if that makes sense...

This is a tough one for me. My best strains are 4 weeks but many are 5-6 sometimes even longer. I prefer the faster so I picked 4 weeks.

sounds like you use the spores almost immediately. I'm starting to think that fresher really is better.

I'm going to print a nice looking cap tomorrow night (most likely) and then use it probably this weekend. I'll shoot for the 36 hours

Chill: Yes indeed. I shot a few jars of some hours-old spores and at the same time some jars from a 6 month old syringe, and the new ones took off measurably faster, so I was sold on the concept. Besides, why wait?

4-5 small snips of a stainless steel washer added to the printing jar before PCing lets you scrape the spores with a magnet from the outside of the jar without having to open it. That combined with a silicon port in the lid makes for very easy syringe creation.
