| FreeStateProject.org There is a libertarian minded organization devoted to reducing the size of government and get it out of our bedrooms, yards, and minds - they picked New Hampshire. The plan is to get enough open minded people who like libertariain ideals (get government out of our lives) to move there, and get enough to vote people into office that might decriminalize drugs, etc. http://www.freestateproject.org - you don't have to move to New Hampshire to see what they are about. I think this is the only chance we have to move to change laws - protesting and voting don't seem to work that well. |

| Ah, I have been there lots of time. Good skiing in the winter, fun lakes to fish and swim, Great mts to hike. Looks like fun. Not sure I want to move back north again. I will read more about it later ![]()

| I've been curious about the FSP for a couple of years but have become especially dedicated to the concept since earlier this year (shortly after finishing Atlas Shrugged). The program is amazing and has a lot of potential for deregulation/decriminalisation in a number of areas, but for those individuals who aren't willing to explore the full breadth of libertarianism, I'd suggest some caution. For example, a lot of people will have difficulty with the notion of no concealed handgun license necessary, no minimum wage laws, no public school system, etc. This is not to say these are set-in-stone or 100% approved of, but the ideas fit in well w/ the libertarian demeanor. Anyway, I'll let you know in a decade or so when we've established a large commercial cubie operation in upstate NH. |

| Funny, lately I've been considering New Hampshire for the site of a business I want to launch. Seems like the state govt there, compared to the one in the state where I live is more laissez-faire. I believe they don't have an income tax. I like the idea of starting my own business because despite being very hard work, I can dictate company policy. I could treat my employees kindly, not subject them to ridiculous drug tests and pay them a decent wage. I detest being a tool that makes somebody who doesn't care about me richer. Owning a business and having a conscience seems like the best way to address that issue. Also, I just read a book online recommended by a member here, Glasshopper, in the R&R forum. It was called a Lodge of Wayferring Men. Seems like the guy who wrote it was a libertarian type. I own Atlas shrugged too, but have yet to read it. Maybe now is the time ![]()
