    i heard that no wild animals had been found dead from the tsunami.supposedly instinct pushed them inland before the waves hit.

    Supposedly there was alot of animal movement before the wave.

    It's a pretty common thing, animals leaving areas before earthquakes or disasters. Seems it's a real thing.

    i hope people learn from this devastating event. its about time people learned that one mother nature can always kick your ass. two if we are living in areas where cause for natural disaster is high have warning systems spend the extra thousand bucks a month to have a monitor in the ocean. a vast majority of the death that took place from this wave could have been avoided if a simple warning system was in place. its insane how no one will spend money on something could potentially save lives until after thousands of people die. we make no sense. the same thing goes for this global warming issue instead of waiting for people to start dieing from it why dont we spend the cash change the policies NOW to prevent the problem before it gets out of control. people think that by protecting the environment or trying to stop global warming the economy will be destroyed. thats total nonsense an economy could be set up or policies implemented where protecting the environment and reducing emissions would be beneficial to corporations etc. but with the head of an oil company in office i sadly dont think thats gonna happen until america gets its kick in the ass by nature

    "The rate of change today seems exponentially large compared to previous cycles."
    ================================================
    Its not a cycle..WE have tossed the baby out with the bath water once too many times..
    and WE are still doin' it..cause its our screwed up economic way of life..if you can call it that.
    I fly, or used to, and over the past 15 years
    I have seen the pollution layer go from 3,000 feet to over 8,000 spilling over the Chestnut Ridge..heading East..
    In the early morning the layers from the coal power plants glows lime green and you almost pass out going thru it..you can't see this until up at level with it..and it is scary stuff.
    10,000 years ago, with the indians still here.. a two mile high ice wall was just north of Pittsburgh...and receeded..our air and water qualities are NOT improving but sadly degrading rapidly from preserving the american way of life..even if it kills everyone..
    hell with where the shoreline renews itself..
    our lands and foods and air and waters are poisoned..faster each day..Bushie has dropped a bunch of environmental laws to help out the economy cause "it always comes down to the money and those who control it"
    ====and on feeling insignificant, there's a cave I used to go into, in West Virginia, about 3,000 ft up
    and very deep in where a big 900 ft long room has the ceiling covered with shells..the sea floor turned upside down..a sight..and a time to reflect..turn off the lights and go by the glow..Senate-Thorn is the caves' name if any of you get there..it'll twist yer head.
    ===========================================.
    so on we go..who will save it .?
    those who try are now called eco-terrorists.
    there are no more monkey-wrenchers.
    and we all know where that ends up..

    my dad told me that lots of people would die the day after christmas, I thought he was full of shit seeing as how it was in the future and all . . . I guess he knew.
    Anyway, I just wanted to say that America's refusal to join in the Kyoto treaty makes me wanna puke. I really wish somebody would come in and replace our government, save us from the fascists that rule this land with fear, lies, and religion. Fuck bush and his "I'm the most god-lovin president since Lincoln" video. Fuck that sorry piece of pig shit and all of the black crud from his bitch ass mom's rotten whore pussy he calls friends. Self righteuos diarhea from hell of a government we got here.
    Damn, I got rid of cable so I could somewhat ignore the rest of this godforsaken world that probably doesn't even exist, but still I can't help but to see shit that upsets me, like the news in general. Fuck the world, fuck people, I am living for myself and what matters to me so I don't have to be pissed off all the time. The whole damn things an illusion anyway, bad shit good shit, all illusions. Fuck me. Who the fuck am I? nothing in this world. what the fuck is this world? nothing without me. So I am responsible for the pain I see. I must choose not to see it and look past the facade, but it sure is hard when it's so in-your-face all the time. Why worry about tommorow when it might not even come? Because I have a son and pregnant wife? Everyone could die today and noone would be here to miss us. I think, if anything, our continued existence beyond this world will be as light bodies, form and matter are impermanent and inferior to energy, which is really all that form and matter are anyway.

    why is america singled out
    when china, even though it 'signed',
    is not bound by the protocol ?
    china is right on the heels of the usa
    and will very soon become the biggest
    source of pollution on the planet
    in a nation already one of the most polluted.
    the usa and australia and a few others refused to sign at least in part because of the unfair advantage given to china.

    I think that china is going to take over the world before our dumb ass politicians even think it's possible. Not that they are the one's I would want to see coming. You are right, Hip, there is no salvation when even the saviors need saving. But under oppression, people often realize their inner freedom and realize they have nothing to lose - they lose their attachments to this impermanent illusion we call life. It really is death that we believe in and see.
    A truly representative democracy isn't possible. And besides, who said the "moral" majority should be ruling everyone else - I don't believe for a second that God likes Bush better than Saddam or any of the other people who feel the need to exert force on others to get what they want - Bush's hands are just as bloody. These people hate God's world and they are trying to bend it to their will. They're stupid really - creating hell on earth for themselves.
