Ex-Cop plans video on how to hide your stash!

Ex-cop plans video on how to hide drugs Fri Dec 22, 5:14 AM ET

A one-time Texas drug agent described by his former boss as perhaps the best narcotics officer in the country plans to market a how-to video on concealing drugs and fooling police.

Barry Cooper, who has worked for small police departments in East Texas, plans to launch a Web site next week where he will sell his video, "Never Get Busted Again," the Tyler Morning Telegraph reported in its online edition Thursday.

A promotional video says Cooper will show viewers how to "conceal their stash," "avoid narcotics profiling" and "fool canines every time."

Cooper, who said he favors the legalization of marijuana, made the video in part because he believes the nation's fight against drugs is a waste of resources. Busting marijuana users fills up prisons with nonviolent offenders, he said.

"My main motivation in all of this is to teach Americans their civil liberties and what drives me in this is injustice and unfairness in our system," Cooper told the newspaper.

Cooper said his Web site should be operating by Tuesday.

As a drug officer, Cooper said, he made more than 800 drug arrests and seized more than 50 vehicles and $500,000 in cash and assets.

"He was even better than he says he was," said Tom Finley, Cooper's former boss on a West Texas drug task force and now a private investigator in Midland. "He was probably the best narcotics officer in the state and maybe the country during his time with the task force."

News of the video has angered authorities, including Richard Sanders, an agent with the Tyler Drug Enforcement Agency. Sanders said he plans to investigate whether the video violates any laws.

"It outrages me personally as I'm sure it does any officer that has sworn an oath to uphold the laws of this state, and nation," Sanders said. "It is clear that his whole deal is to make money and he has found some sort of scheme, but for him to go to the dark side and do this is infuriating."

Smith County Deputy Constable Mark Waters, a narcotics officer, said the video is insulting to law enforcement officials.

"This is a slap in the face to all that we do to uphold the laws and keep the public safe," he said.

Is that a stash I smell, or is it ?

Quite the PR campaign before the video is even made. Appropriate credibility-enhancing anger being expressed from active duty law enforcement officials. Eager anticipation from stoners getting ready for road trips. Video is released, showing officers exactly where and how those stoners will be hiding their stashes, allowing for quicker discovery of said stash, and easier busts.

Maybe I'm just cynical, but telling everybody to hide their stuff "here" may not be the best advice to take. Now if tells us unequivocal ways to foil dog noses, that'd be nice. Technologies do exist already that beat dogs, but are tedious and new info on that is always appreciated. (smells are just particles; you gotta stop the flow of particles from contraband to open air; activated charcoal and/or high-vacuum containers of impermeable materials are a start).

Does the promo for the DVD make anyone else weary of purchasing it??? Volume one?? This is just a giant money grabbing scam for information you could dig up yourself, with a little research.

I dunno... you could pull up information... but this video is put out by a cop... any information he provides hopefully would be current, unless it's all a government tactic to give us false information...
i did notice in his video he's profiling cars and pulled beside one.. and they were rolling a joint... paid actors? or real deal? dunno...
from what I've read and seen he's pro-marijunana, not pro-drug, he still thinks all other drugs are bad.
    check out his page...
either way.. good info or not... i've asked my woman to get it for me for valentine's day... she always tries to get me something too so i gave her the link and a wink wink... plus i always like adding to my video/book collection.

I've seen someone smoking out of a bong on the interstate! I had been accelerating on an onramp, and I like to be going 70-75 by the time I merge, so I passed a car in the slow lane from the onramp, and saw this guy ripping a big bong hit- boy did he look surprised to suddenly see me staring at him (and laughing my ass off, lucky for him I thought it was funny)!

I've also been driving along (enjoying the buzz from the joint I smoked before getting in the car) and suddenly smelled some good bud burning. I looked around and saw 'something' being passed by the idiot college kids in the car in front of me (the car had a fraternity sticker, just like Our Hero Barry Cooper pointed out as being a sign to look for).

So paid actors are not necessary if you want to see monumentally stupid shit on the road.

He claims to offer a guaranteed method for defeating drug dogs. If his method is real, and works (would someone out there mind testing it for me?) then I couldn't call him a fake. As far as grubbing for money, any decent documentary is the same thing; someone digging up a bunch of info we could find ourselves. We pay him because he did that tedious work for us, and I'm happy to pay people for that, so long as it's for real.

Reminds me of the radar detector inventor, "Escort," who made the first radar detector, then sold detector-detectors to the cops, then sold detector-detector-detectors to civilians, and so on.

The only side coming out on top is the manufacturer. I imagine the same will apply with this video/information - extrapolate, and this cop stands to make a lot of moolaah over the next few years, appealing both to cops as well as citizens who are "ridin' dirty."

I say fuck all of it and just keep your shit and your buzz at home

Ok, I now have the video (both of them) and have watched them.
The first DVD is worth buying, the second DVD is repeat footage and isn't that good...
video is a little home made is some parts (but mostly old arrest footage)
He has a section that explains drug dogs... how they smell, what does/doesn't work. How cops make dogs give fake signals... *safer* ways to travel, your rights if you are pulled over... none of the information he gives seems like a 'setup' or 'trap'... he lays it out logically and tells you why he thinks it does or doesn't work.

some of the info was stuff I already knew/practice.. some of the info made me think a little.

the guys kinda funny to watch too...

The handler and dog are always together, when they train he makes a certain noise to make the dog scratch harder to get the toy if he always makes this sound and there is always the toy then the dog will do the same thing when the handler gives a body gesture or sound that may not mean anything to you...
