Yeah, around here people get shot for shit like that, they do it a lil different in the hood, cause everyone is always ready to fight and shoot... Bouncers know if they beat someone up, they will prolly be back with guns and more people, at least around these parts... Seems like people get shot a few times a month in some of the nearby cities, just from bar fights alone...

IF you have the money and want to embarrass the club and police, go for it. Contact the local paper and tell them what happened. Contact the band and tell them. Maybe they would like to know why you suddenly dissapeared in the middle of the second set? Maybe they can pressure the club?

But you need to act fast. Time's a tickin'...

Sorry to hear about what happened to you. I'm sure that was pretty scary stuff.

Hey bouncers aren't all bad, and not all of em are meat heads.

Maybe I'm the odd man out here, but I have a part time job as a bouncer, and I've found that there's no need to be overly aggressive and violent. Infact, a life of being a warrior type has taught me that there's always gonna be someone bigger or faster... and if not then there's gonna be a vengful fucker hiding in the shadows with a pipe... and if you avoid all of that there's the lawyers sub poening you to explain why you 'lost control' and stabbed some dude in the thigh with his own knife that he pulled on you, and now he's sueing cuz he was a body builder...

so what I'm saying is that I've learned through trial and error that being polite but firm and having your finger on the radio button to call for backup is much easier than trying to throw my or anyone else's weight around.

Bouncers are people too.

So try to remember that they have a job to do, and dealing with a crowd of rabid lunies can get old at times. Sure just like the chick at the retail store, she should be polite when she tells you that the sale is over or that they no longer carry that item, but everyone has bad days, and getting a couple lumps when you're three sheet to the winds is pretty mild considering the sorts of trouble that people get into in those sorts of situations...

Ok i just reread the first post to this thread, and AoA totally didn't have that coming... i guess i am sort of the odd man out... and come to think of it I do work with at least one meathead bully bouncer... But that's why I'm on the front door and not him... plus he probably has trouble keeping up with the head count.

yeah, that was fucked up... don't know what to say other than you should have been at my club instead... had 2 Live Crew there a couple nights ago...

Guys like those bouncers probably lead shitty enough lives as it is anyhow. Even if you want to bring them down, there's probably not much to bring down.

Besides, there's a big difference between being choke slammed by a couple of dumb asses one night, and permanently fucking up people's lives.

They may have fucked with you, but I guarantee violent assholes like that will get fucked with a lot more in the long run.

I like boycott tactics.
Print up a few dozen fliers telling what happened to you (don't give any personal information) and name the establishment in bold letters. In a college town you might want to post these ( anonymously ) on student bulletin boards around the campus. This is about the only hurt you can impose on the owner or the negligent authorities. Kids might feel the same thing could happen to them and spend their money elsewhere.
