What is this National B&E Weekend

So I get one of the worse calls this morning. So i wake up with a few missed calls and messages finally get ahold of my buddy and he says to come to the space we play. I get there and cops are all around, here I guess some kids or something broke into some of the storage spaces last night. Well this is were we play so we keep most our shit there. My peavey half stack and head are gone, as well as my 73 Gibson Les Paul, Fender acoustic, all my pedals, 3 mics, both my buddies 5 string bass's, and My other friends Pearl drum kit. I dont know how they did it I mean how they got away without anyone seeing them right in the middle of town early this morning. It takes time to move all that shit I know. I dont know what to think cause we had insurance at the place but my lp is worth some money man, some serious money. All i got now is my gibson acoustic and a marshall amp. lol go figure. At least the storage place has camera so the when I left the cops said they were gonna get the tapes and see if they can find anything, and they would call if they did.

Thanks yall, but I dont really care about the money, I mean the LP was worth a bunch, but my Grand Father gave that to me before he passed, so it sucks. I hope the cops can figure something out. I would be happy just getting that back and nothing else. But in reality thats not gonna happen, and I know that so. We will see Im gonna keep everyone up to date with this.

Man i'm sorry about your stuff I lost a Rifle that was my dads when he was a boy. Some ahole decided he could get whatever for it. The gun itself was not expensive it was just all thememories attached to it, My son never even met his grandpa, He died befor jermy came but that sucks man. Sorry for rambling.

Damn I hate thieves, My band had a similar experience. We finished up a three weekend gig at this bar and loaded all of our equipment up in our guitar players van. The next morning the van was gone along with all of our equipment from the gig. The cops found the van a couple of weeks later repainted but no equipment. Luckily because we are a working band we have more than just the equipment we lost but we lost over 10 grands worth of gear. All thieves should fry in hell!

Alot of storage places have people who live on premises to keep an eye on things and run the office. They would be the first suspects on my list.

I knew a couple people when I was in high school who ran a storage unit and they would steal peoples stuff then call the cops and report a theft.

Not only do they know everything that u might have, but also know when the best time is to steal your shit.

That guitar will be a bit higher profile than most stolen items, so if they try to sell it it might surface. I'd go everywhere that someone might try to sell it (pawn shops, music stores, some clubs) and let everybody know to be on the lookout for it. I'd also check the classified ad section of the paper; you never know how stupid they might be.

I'd also find out where everyone who works there lives and do a little sitting and watching.

I would be very curious to know what was stolen from the other spaces. If there was nice stuff stolen from every unit that was broken into, and units in between them were not broken into then I'd say it was an inside job. If there were a few units broken into near yours, but not much of value was taken (if anything) then I'd also think it was either an employee of the facility or someone who knew what was in your unit for whatever reason. If the units busted into and stuff stolen appears random then it was probably random.

With things going the way they are, public storage places are probably becoming risky places to keep valuable stuff, since crime is only going to go up as the economy deteriorates.

Thanks for the good words and ideas all. I actually called a bunch of local and outta town pawn shops this morning. I spoke with the detective that is in charge of the case this morning he said "We figured they would have masks and gloves which they did, so the only way were gonna get it is if they try to sell it, get caught with it or someone snitches on em lol." Im like wtf man how did they get it outta there they sure as hell didnt climb the barb wire fence and walk down the street with it on there shoulders! He said the van in the video was stolen, and they broke the lock on the gate wtf. I cant believe no one saw shit. I asked the detective so your pretty much your telling me "there isnt anything you can do for me?" I thought he laughed then when he said no, and that theres other people going through the same thing as me. I asked a few people to keep there ears open dont talk about it and see whats said around town. We didnt tell people all that was stolen so hope someone mentions something we didnt say anything about. I know many of us have been through this b4 its sad to say it wont be the last time, shit live and learn I guess.
