Common Courtesy and Respect

A few of the threads in this forum have gotten out of hand lately with anger and name calling. Such is unacceptable. I have suggested privately to hip for quite some time now that Resist and Rebel be deleted because it has become a source of division between us on a site which I feel should serve to unite us through our common hobby and a love for the mycelial network.

Debate is an important instrument in advanced civilization, because we all get to see the opposing viewpoints, thus increasing our net understanding of the total picture. The problem arises when we read a post that (to us) is so far out there, we get emotional and respond out of anger rather than thinking it over and making a controlled, rational rebuttal. Such only adds fuel to the fire and does nothing to convince our opponent that we are right and he is wrong.

Let's clean it up guys.
If you get a pm asking you tone down the anger, please take it to heart, but don't take it personally. If you're really angry, spend the time it takes to calm down doing a few internet searches and come up with some rational documentation for your point of view and post it once you've returned your blood pressure to normal levels.
