"Pot activist Marc Emery told a Vancouver business licence hearing yesterday that he was transferring control of his Cannabis Culture Headquarters to his wife, Jodie Emery.

“She is an exemplary person and she’ll be an excellent business person,” said Marc Emery, who was at city hall for a third day to appeal the city’s rejection of his business licence renewal.

Emery is surrendering himself to authorities on Monday for extradition to the U.S., where he will plead guilty to selling marijuana seeds through mail.

Emery withdrew the business licence application yesterday in order to transfer directorship of the company, Avalon Sunsplash, to his wife, his accountant and his lawyer. The new directors could then petition for the renewal of the business licence.

Vision Coun. Geoff Meggs said the city had seven points of concern with Emery’s appeal. The main one is that it is illegal for someone to run a business after they have been criminally convicted in connection with that business, he added.

“Much of city staff’s concern focused on a conviction that he has for possession in Saskatchewan a few years ago,” Meggs said."

So how does a possession charge from another province influence his ability to run a business? What a stupid law.

This case never made sense to me - he was busted in Canada by U.S. agents. Poor guy

Jodie is a sweetheart.

Recently its been sad to see and hear her.
Reading her myspace and facebook posts, seeing her on tv
and talking with her in-person, you can sense the pain.

It is incredibly sad what is happening to Marc.
He has done so much for the movement,
especially here in Canada.
It is a definite blow to the activism scene here.
I hope she can carry that torch.

However, more than anything,
We have to continue this fight more than ever,
like Marc said months and months before,
"I am prepared to be a martyr for our movement"
and that he can "do more behind bars, than he ever could outside."
I completely believe that.
I think that the level of attention that he will and
continue to receive here in Canada,
will help spark debate, and change minds.
But in the end, its about us.
We have to push forward and change minds
and one day laws.

All the sadness that Marc suffers now will pass and Jodie will be waiting.

He will keep fighting from prison and continue when he is released.

The sad part is we all get old and can't fight as much as we used to.
This is why we should teach OUR kids well so they can carry on the fight.
Someone has to step up to the plate or the movement dies.

I hate what happened to him or anyone who gets thrown away for this kind of act or similar kinds of acts against Government "law".

However I dont agree with the intentions of this statement or the quote, "bombs" just below it. Once again America the "bad guy"? Canada cooperates with The United States of America and USA cooperates with them.
