Hello,

I am not a member of Mycotopia nor will I ever be- I am currently signed on using my boyfriend's account. In spite of my passion for mushrooms, beer making, and other subjects relevant to Mycotopia, I have no desire to join because of the way the female minority of Mycotopia members are exploited on threads like Bare Naked Ladies and in the Summer Madness contest where it was asked that soft-porn pictures of naked women (only women, NOT men) be posted in order to enter the contest.

You say you want more women to join. Then why subject us to this? How is this supposed to be appealing to me? I would be here for my interest in mushrooms and beer, NOT to have assholes jerk off to my pictures. Is there no where we can be safe from sexual exploitation when even on a website intended for people to share information about plants and fungi the female minority here is still expected to cater to the sexual whims of the men dominating the site, is still encouraged to subjugate ourselves just so we can earn a place in this web community? Even among other mycology students must I still be expected to suck everyone's cock before I'm initiated in the gang?

First of all, everyone knows the female body is beautiful, and all intelligent people (like 99% of the people on this site) enjoy looking at it.

2nd, I'm new to mycotopia and I was banned my first day for calling women ''fellow vaginas'' in a post because they thought I was a man. Which is obvious proof that this site or it's administrators do not tolerate male degradation of women.

We treat women here very well and there are a lot less arguments between men and women here than there are probably anywhere in the world.

Contests like that actually fuel this place and bring in proceeds and donations that keep the site alive. Im sorry that you are offended by such things but they do benefit this place that does provide the education and wisdom we all seek.

Don't look at it as disrespect. There is a part of the rules where it is required to be with the ladies permission. My woman and many others women are very comfortable with the way they look and long story short, men aren't nearly as good looking as women are in every single way.

We didn't ask you to join the site and we would love if you would, you are not required to enter the BNL which is a fundraiser of sorts and everyone here, men and women alike enjoy partaking in doing so whether donating, participating or simply viewing.

You say you want more women to join. Then why subject us to this? How is this supposed to be appealing to me? Is there no where we can be safe from sexual exploitation when even on a website intended for people to share information about plants and fungi the female minority here is still expected to cater to the sexual whims of the men dominating the site, is still encouraged to subjugate ourselves just so we can earn a place in this web community? Contests like that actually fuel this place and bring in proceeds and donations that keep the site alive. There is a part of the rules where it is required to be with the ladies permission. So, yes, I am proposing that you include photos of men in the contests, instead of exclusively using women's bodies as a currency to fundraise for Mycotopia. Contrary to popular belief, men's bodies are beautiful too. Would anyone like to see a reciprocal thread for pictures of men? Society and media at large are male-biased and Mycotopia is just acting unconciously as a microcosm of that dynamic. BNL is alienating because it presents Mycotopia as a boy's club.
