| nothing happened with peruvian torch a couple weeks ago i purchased an awsome looking two footer from bouncing bear. there were two stems growing from the top about eight inches together and having no experience with mescaline i decided to start with them. i removed the spines, outer skin, and scraped the green goo away from the white center and boiled the green goo in water for about an hour. then i ate the remaining green material. nothing happened. then i read you need to boil it for at least two hours so i took a HUGE ten inch section and prepared it the way i had before but this time added a couple apples and boiled it for three hours. then ate all the material and drank the liquid. once again, nothing happened. did i do something wrong? i've got at least twelve inches left and i dont want to screw it up so if anyone has a suggestion... i looked at other pics on the web and i'm sure its peruvian... the guy on the phone really hooked me up as i was only trying to get two six inch cuttings, having none he gave me this two footer for the same price. help |

| I suggest you try T. Pachanoi next time but here is the info you need... If your T. Peruvianus has WHITE spines then there is no need to proceed as it is KK242 (a real "Peruvianus" but no alkaloids), also if your green cactus flesh is easily edible (i.e. doesn't taste bitter) then also there is no need to proceed. Even the correct cactus can sometimes be low in alks depending on its genetics. But as for the recipe, you can try this: 1) use a 1ft. section that is 3" thick 2) despine and then cut into thin stars 3) add water to blender and blend the stars up good 4) add some lemon juice and lightly boil for an hour or so (the bubbles will go away) 5) strain and save liquid 6) add more water and lemon juice and boil another hour or so 7) strain and combine saved liquid 8) discard mush 9) if the remaining liquid is more than a cup or so then boil it down gently to what you will be able to swallow in a couple good chugs (blech hehe) A good chaser will help you avoid that awful taste!

| Same tek for any active trich. That is correct that white spines are KK242. The confusion comes in when I tell you that KK242 is a type of Peruvianus -- that is, it is often sold as Peruvianus because many consider it a Peruvianus, so they are not lying. More accurately though we here at 'topia have come to a unified conclusion it would be better titled T. Cuzcoensis since it comes from Cuzco. The name T. Peruvianus KK242 or T. Peruvianus var. Cuzco is a little deceiving IMO. There are figures in (Trouts notes I think) listing Cuzcoensis at having only trace elements of mescaline (trace means none basically). Taxonomy of cacti is obviously not the precise science you'd think!

| If you must boil it you really have to watch the heat. Heat will destroy the alkies and render it weak. If you can stand it I would recomend that you eat it raw, or put it in a blender with some lemon juice and drink it down like disgusting smoothie. Of course as others have said you could just have a weak cactus to begin with, but from past experiences I would attempt to eat it without heating it up for the best possible results. |

A medium boil won't destroy the alks (unless you let it run out of water and burn it). Traditionally Peyote is boiled into a tea as well. Eating fresh cactus is nearly impossible.

| My FOAF found eating it raw rather gross, but manageable. Although his gf couldnt manage to do so at all. Its really a matter of how strong someones stomach is, and how revolting they find the taste to begin with. He said he would rather choke it down raw and trip, than boil it down to more reasonable levels and get a weak effect from it. I have heard that boiling it is possible without destroying a signifigant amount of the alkies, but my FOAF had one weak trip from boiling it and went back to just eating it raw to maximize his chance of getting the full effect. |

| I once capsuled 60~ grams of powder in 000 gelatin capsules (1250mg) and got only a minor trip. Then extreme intestinal/gut pains. I eventually called poison controll, who couldn't tell me shit. Very shitty experience, I dont recommend. |
