attempts at magic ethanol

several attemps were made to understand and perfect a method of storing magic in ethanol. i do not think it is fully understood yet, but the following are details and notes on what has been attempted so far.


color: very dark blue
method: about 30 g fresh treasure coast chopped up and soaked in a tea steep ball
ethanol: 80 proof grey goose
date of exp: may 06
setting: consumed in the chat room here.
strength/report: it was not effective really, consumption resulted in a intoxicating feeling with no visuals
conclusion: innefective due to bruising of freshies, warm storage and high water content.



color: tannish-grey to clear
method: 4 g dried treasure coast powdered and soaked in freezer for a month.
ethanol: 80 proof grey goose
date of exp: june 06
setting: indoors, summer daytime with a female friend.
strength/report: this actually worked well. we layed in bed and relaxed with minor visuals. the computer station area had several esoteric blinking lights and resembled some sort of spaceship controls. closed eye visuals were present, mostly about traveling to other places and landscapes.
conclusion: better results due to less bruising of dried material, cold storage.



color: very dark blue
method: 45 fresh g's of hillbilly's grown outdoors, soaked in freezer for 2 months. evaporated all ethanol off, until only h20 remained.
ethanol: 151 proof spyrtus
date of exp: november 06
setting: went out to the store and returned home to find that 4 friends had consumed some dried hillbillys. so it was a good time to test the current blue juice.
strength/report: there were almost no effects to report at all.
conclusion: fresh material was absorbed into ethanol, but as ethanol evaped the water from freshies remained and bruised the water blue.



color: light amber to yellow
method: 3.5 g dried hillbillys powdered and soaked for 2 months in freezer. strained and consumed.
ethanol: 151 proof spyrtus
date of exp: december 06
setting: consumed while in chat here, before christmas. then in kitchen with a few friends.
strength/report: effective mini-trip only lasting one hour, with minor visuals but an all around great feeling of well being. 6 min. had passed before effects were noticed. the inital unknown knocks on my door gave me anxiety. 2 sisters that are friends of mine unexpectedly showed up but seeing them was a relief as i did not mind there company. we conversated around a table and they were aware of my situation.
conclusion: strength was on the right track, perhaps using a larger dose of dried material, like double what you expect to extract? the duration is probably shortened using ethanol, but no clue as to why it did not last longer.



color: dark shade of tannish to light amber
method: 5 g dried hillbillys powdered and soaked for 3 months in freezer. evap down to 1/2 0z.
ethanol: 151 proof spyrtus
date of exp: not yet, but will post it here



so in conclusion. more testing must be done

How are you storing this stuff in the freezer?

in tall 1/2 pint canning jars (not wide mouth)
and they were shaken several times a week also

Mycobri:

You really should get your hands on some hi-grain ethanol, everclear, etc., and follow the proscribed tek(s). Even if you live in a no-everclear state, you can get it online, from a friend, family member, etc. Works like a charm everytime.

Either way, you shouldn't bother with freshies - dry first, then soak

It lasts in the freezer for a long time, at least 8 months w/o any noticable degradation, so I assume one could store it for much longer periods

i always end up playing with ethanol extracts, so this would be the perfect thing to have.
and -not from any of the above mentioned states .

also, have been following the various psilly-ethanol threads since i first got here and find this subject especially interesting.
