as an old head with thats had kids, how did you go about introducing them to the entire concept of drugs? did you keep it a secret, or was it an out in the open thing?

i ask because i have one starting school next year, and the whole d.a.r.e. regime they give our kids scares me to the point that i've always kept it on the down low...

What role do you think time plays in our existence?

It seems like one moment we are too young to anything legally and the next we can't do anything but sit and live off IV's wondering what else we could have accomplished in life and thinking it went by too fast...

live in the moment,
and the past
and the future
will take care
of themselves.

perspective-
by the time you're living on IVs,
most are pretty much
ready to go.

a long life
gives many scars,
sore bones,
and many other burdens.

live long enough
and you'll bury
everything you ever loved.

and it gets hard to make a living.
now don't mistake me-
one can still
even under those conditions
savor a fine day, good food,
love and laugh.

but still
they eventually get
a peace of mind
knowing they've had their fill,
they're ready to go when time comes.

of course
there are those that go off
not in peace
but screaming and crying-
a pity as there's nothing to fear,
every human before them died too.

I have a question, as well as an observation of fact that I would like you to elaborate on.

Question....... You said in your 20's you were on the run from the law. What ever came of that? Were you incarcerated? And if so, for how long.
I am also curious if you were a victim of the "war on drugs" or were your legal issues caused or related to something other than drugs.

On second thought I do not feel my observation is appropriate. Not that it is offensive, just not a subject I want to discuss.

My condolences to you, pertaining to the loss of your son.

i was a fugitive for an armed robbery.
after 6.5 yrs. on the run
i turned myself in,
did about 30 days in county,
another 90 days in halfway house
and walked down the remaining 2.5 years of probation.
as to my 'troubles' and where the blame lies-
i'll take that one fair and square.
it was my own damn fault
for being lazy, greedy and stupid
in no particular order.
i was also betrayed by my partner in crime,
as well as by my old lady and the in-laws, etc.
then there was the whiskey and the Valium...

hip, over time these lessons one learns from individual trips begin to fade as one becomes more jaded to regular life again (the one that society imprints upon us just through daily life interacting with people). these lessons can always be remembered but the feeling of the importance of them begins to fade and thus the motivation to uphold yourself to them begins to fade as well. so typically i just trip again and if i keep the lessons in mind, their importance will be renewed in my mind.

so my question is, how do you go about retaining the feeling of importance of these lessons through the years or do you even bother?

Hippie,

Have you ever in your life gone through long periods of anxiety or insecurity? And how did you deal with those times? What got you through?

Do you think that reality is the same for everyone? obviously people percieve things differently, but this is in reference to your 'god experience' you described in which you saw angels orbiting around god (oversimplified, sorry).
do you think that there is only one truth to reality or that there are many possible truths?

by definition there can be only one reality-
but there are many ways to perceive reality,
and many more ways to interpret the perception.
thus it's unlikely the two beings could 'see' the same reality

it's a bit like that old story of the blind men describing an elephant-
each being experience his unique perspective as a slice of reality
but no one gets the totality, the gestalt.

their perception is real,
their interpretation valid
but the picture is incomplete.

at least until we return to the spirit whence we came.
then perhaps we can see it all as one encompassing reality.

nope, it does not.
parallel 'branes are still all part of the overall encompassing reality.
if something exists then it's part.
that's definitive.
all the parallel 'universes' are still under one umbrella grand reality,
reality isn't based on a set of physical laws,
those can vary in parallel universes.

what are your thoughts on the concept that consciousness is a tool for the universe to better understand itself?
