![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | hallucinogenic tea ... "a holiday in a cup"
overheard this story on the bus ... (crazy kids). after hearing this story i cannot overemphasise the need for a TRUSTED and EXPERIENCED sitter. the sitter does not have to be sober but cannot be new to whatever they are on. these two kids were talking about how they did the following: 160g invitro freshies (whole) 10g syrian rue (also whole) low boiled in 2 cups water for 15-20 minutes x 4, filtered through a strainer for the ingredients, then coffee filter for sediments after each boil. the final juice was reduced to 1 cup total for 2 half cup doses. refrigerated overnight, they said it tasted horrible when warm. they said they tripped Balls, total and complete breakthrough with shrooms. among the numerous/continuous OEV/CEV/mental/body hallucinations they talked about, one said they felt/saw the air around them become like water with transparent snakes swimming in all directions around them, as if they were underwater, breathing water, one spoke of how they were unsure of whether they were dead or alive. there were moments when they were unsure if they were awake with eyes open or asleep dreaming. as the peak approached, they couldn't focus on externals/others and they "fell asleep" for about 30 minutes WARNING: at the peak (4-5 hours into the 8-10 hr experience) one of the kids awoke from the "sleep that wasn't sleep", so convinced that nothing was real that they bit/ripped their nails off (before their sitter got to them) , peed on themselves, and questioned the categories and realites of life (it seemed to be one of those "put your hand into the fire/walk out a third storey window/ i can fly" moments. BE WARNED. HAVE A SITTER.), this total derealization lasted about 30-45 min after which they were ok but very shaken and loving the massively deep insights into their brain workings ... they said it was almost as if their brain/mind rebooted or something). they said the combo was "better" (whatever that means) than shrooms by themselves. not as scary/ or the scariness was not as fear inducing. balance/walking was severely affected. one reported a medium headache at the end which went away after eating (maybe less syrian rue might have avoided this at the cost of a good bit of trippiness). overall they both enjoyed the experience tremendously, it reduced their need to trip frequently, and the stress relief, insight, healing, refreshment was such that they labeled it their "holiday in cup". of course, i wouldn't recommend anyone do this. i hear there are serious dietary precautions involved with taking syrian rue. the shroom dose was a little uncommon (80g fresh) ... but maybe they needed more if they were tripping often. nyway just a story i heard on the bus. |

That trip sounds a bit much for us, but I've done "gummihuasca" using black currant juice as a MAO discourager with small doses of shrooms and found that it potentiated and modified the trip. CEVs were more intense, more beautiful, and, as noted here, had more presence.

heroic is a relative term... there are two pradigms of drug use i have encountered: the regular everyday "1/8th of shrooms will give a decent rip, 7 grams will be out of this world, 14g may strip you of your sanity etc.". this is like advertising copy, "true but not really/completely true". it is true enough to work but it blocks your mind from the other possibilities ... e.g. consider the caveman, hungry as hell, who found a field of mushrooms, collected as many as he and his peeps could carry and made a soup for the night. imagine his "unwitting" trip. then imagine him/his kids starving, would he repeat this? i'd imagine so , "so what we hallucinate, we didn't die and we didn't starve", consider the amounts such a person could take. or to use a less extreme example, imagine someone taking 3g twice on weekends and on wednesday. 12g would not be that heavy for such a one. the idea of using weight to predict trip strength is based on supply of the entheogen being limited i.e. we don't want to use more than we can afford/have. once supply is not an issue, trip quality, health effects, set & setting, etc. become much more important. for example, the kids said that a trip like the one above cannot be accessed without the rue -- i.e. using more shrooms and less rue was not as "strong/mind-blowing". once we move on past weight issues ( "oh no 10g is too much, 1g is not enough"), we can learn what works for our individual bodies. we become more able to alter our consciousness in ways "we" enjoy even though they may be totally taboo in the general circles. e.g. we can try 1g everyday, see how we like that ... or whatever. we can relax and do our shit how we want to do it. of course some drugs can be lethal/harmful and free feeding is too dangerous. then it is useful to follow dosage guidelines. but then the reason is real (i dont want to die) vs. they said this was too much (but you don't really know for yourself and it is not lethal to attempt the higher doses). in any case high dose shroom trips are no joke and the amounts tend to eventually limit themselves to something one is comfortable with. because again, there is no prize/win/props for doing the "heroic" doses and none for the "puny" ones either. just a trip you are comfortable with, which does what you want it to do for you. |

I hear you. The old motto from a FOAF's very best or worst of foraging sessions was 'just put them all in the pan'. There was discomfort at the onset but later all was well It was a great technique
