Ok the Spirit Molecule was awesome, but do you guys agree that alien abductions are DMT trips ?

My personal trips have been way different than what those seem to describe.

If they were, where are the accounts of the FRACTAL imagery? Abductoin accounts just seem longer, less dynamic (in terms of how fast things tend to move on DMT) than what I know about abductions (which is very little). With DMT it's very apparent that you don't exist in 3 dimensional space, and you aren't aware of the presence of your own body (so you won't feel like you're lying in a bed in a space ship).

What's with the pineal gland? Ever since he mentioned this, word have spread that DMT is created here and gets released before sleep and before death. I don't think any of this was proven. I do think DMT is responsible for near death experiences though.

His book was awesome, agreed. I snatched it up back when it first hit the shelves. However, much of what he presents is mere speculation. His research has shown the similarity within DMT trips from individuals of different backgrounds and thus a reasoning for archetypal activation while under it's influence- but I don't think it's all "in the head". If one were to believe that an alien abduction is exclusively the fault of the Pineal producing exceptional amounts of DMT (or MAO's failure in metabolizing it properly), one may further believe that extraterrestrial sightings in general are mere hallucinogenic experiences...

And I guess that's OK if that is what one believes.

However, I believe in the existance in extraterrestrial life and the visitation of outerplanetary lifeforms for whatever reasoning they have. And I think that, although likely more rare than reported, that it's possible to be abducted. Thus, I think that although many may experience advanced technologies, alien lifeforms and McKenna's elves, it's simply not exclusive to the Psychedelic Experience. Perhaps, even, it's an innerplanar journey, or one wormhole to psychically experience the otherwise Unknown.

I have been wanting to read The Spirit Molecule for some time now. Cap recently posted a pdf of the book so ill probably be reading it on my pc which is very cool but not the same as laying back relaxing reading a book of interest.I am appreciative of cap posting the pdf though for sure.

I have seen a entity in dmt land.It said to me " this is the first time we have met (or) This is the first time you have been here".It simply blows my mind thinking of that experience.

I agree it was an amazing book to read. I thought his most interesting speculation was that on a certain day or week of pregnancy that the mothers body is flooded with DMT and his question is, is that the moment the soul enters the unborn child. Anyway it's a very interesting book.

i can understand how diemethyltryptamine would be released before sleep... i've felt some REALLY weird feelings and thoughts right before having a good night's sleep...

i do as well. not only do i start to get that heavy feeling, but sometimes i have closed eye visuals as well. about 15 minutes before i fall asleep all my thoughts become integrated and very intense i can think of things in my life as if they were cards or plants. i used to play a card game, and i would think of some problems in my life as though they were cards int he game playing with the rules as well. its unlike dreams though in the fact that if i open my eyes i immediately forget about everything i was just speaking of.

maybe we're crossing multiple "speculations" of strassman's but, I recall the above put forth with the idea that, seven weeks after conception, is both when the pineal gland can be seen in a fetus and when the sex becomes apparent. This was interesting to Strassman because buddhists say that the soul leaves the body seven weeks (49 days) after death...

I think strassman saw the correlation as interesting and wondered upon it's possible significance - if my foggy memory is correct anyhow.

I'm pretty sure there is no fact stating that a flood of dmt enters the mother. Like DJ said, the pineal gland info is all speculation from strassman that has, like many such things, picked up steam as fact. There is no proof, as far as i've heard, where dmt is manufactured/secreted from or what it's purpose would be.

is like 2 percent of the world population... can enter to altered states of consciusness without altering his mind by dancing, starvation, meditation, psychdelics, entheogens,....what the ufo alien allucination might be the perception of another reality apart from us but withing bothe,, and what this drugs do either endogen like dmt or ayahasca,,, its turne our receiver to the proper wavelenght ,,, conecting us to the spirit realm,, ancient teachers,,
the teachers within... so probably this non induced allucinations can be prolongued even if its only happening in 1 minute,, remember the part in waking life... yea that part.. the bed.. yep... 1 dmt trip,, loooonnggg as time can be and brief as space,, or lucid dreaming... fisical beings.. who knows... energy beings.. who knows.... better go out have some.... )

August West I do not feel you have stepped on my toes in any way, All your post did was make read through the book again. You are right the part I was speaking of was referring to was 49 days from conception to sex and appearance of the pineal gland and the speculations Straussman had about how that amount of time is the same amount referred to in Buddhist reincarnation 49 days for the soul to leave the dead body.......... I Do not wish to post mis information and I would not have made the first post If I had not thought it to be what I had read,so for that ,I must say sorry to the whole topia family! All that being said ,I do think the book is a great read ,or in my case a better re read.

as far as i've read, it's undisputed that DMT is found in the human body. Exact data on when or who found this is a bit slippery. I have come across this unsourced quote:

"In 1972, Nobel prize winning scientist Julius Axelrod of the U.S. National Institutes of Health reported finding DMT in human brain tissue."

overall, from what i've read, it seems to be unquestioned that it's produced in the human body. But, as you ask, the where and why is up for grabs. Maybe Kesey speaks best to these questions:

i liked the spirit molecule except the speculation at the end. it seems to ruin the credibility of the book since a lot of the things he speculates about don't have a very sound scientific foundation.
