![]() | Recently I ate 3-5 grams of Cubs. I don't bother weighing stuff anymore. This was a medium-large dose for me. I've definitely eaten more... Anywho, the trip lasted about 10 hours! Is this normal at all? Also, it was one of my least visual trips ever. Maybe the Psilocybin was all broken down into Psilocin? All of my previous Cub trips lasted a very predictable 5-6 hours. Maybe about 30 times over the last 10 years. I've cultivated all but one dose. I tripped on fruits from the same substrate batch a few weeks earlier and it was the normal 6 hour experience. The only differences I can figure out from the last trip on the same substrate are, these were from the second flush, they were "older" than most doses I've consumed by at least a month, and I ate a lot of aborts in addition to some regular veil-closed carps. I also ate them down with a couple of fat chocolate-chunk cookies which I'd never tried before. The cookies did a great job of overwhelming that fungusy flavor. It was my first time growing on straw/horsey dung, but like I said, the first flush trips were normal length for me. It was a very fun trip! I rode my bicycle around all over the place and then hung out with some guitar players on the porch of our local bar...I like tripping both socially and by myself in the solitude of nature... ![]() I thought I had Cubs figured out! ![]() |

![]() | i did the exact thing spesh1 did on Saturday though.... the high came on in about 15-20 minutes and the euphorics lasted about 2 or 3 hours after the trip... it took quite a bit to wear off, I'm glad i was in a safe environment!

![]() ![]() | Great thread BTW! I've been curious about the effects of chocolate with shrooms but, never tried it. I'm definitely trying it next time to see if I get the same results as mushroommaster and Freaky. ![]()

![]() | grapefruits? Ive always taken some sort of vitamin C or multivitamin when shrooming. not sure if it does anything but when i was first introduced to them a friend said vitamin C intesifies it. But i have read that grapefruit juice or any other form of it intensifies some drugs (not sure about mushrooms) because it is responsible for the suppresion of your metabolism of certain drugs. making your experience longer/stronger. http://www.nytimes.com/2006/03/21/health/21grap.html? |

![]() | I am no biochemist, but I am very well educated and have a rudimentary knowledge about antioxidants and some of their affects in the body. I find it highly unlikely that vitamin C or any antioxidant compound would have a significant enhancement to the trip. I guess maybe the vitamin C might help prevent the psilocin from being degraded but I doubt this. I will do some research. The chemistry of the human body is incredibly complex. Maybe there could be some other mechanism... For years I've been using a blender, throwing my dose in about 10 ounces of OJ or OJ/Pineapple and blending on high for 1.5-2 minutes. A few times I haven't had access to juice. My "juice" experiences haven't seemed any more intense or prolonged than the non-juice trips. Point being, OJ and Pineapple are very high in vitamin C. I just use the juice to kill the taste. Also, with the shrooms so finely ground and the sugar in the juice allowing for quick stomach absorption, the trips usually come on very quickly, in about 15 minutes or less. Not very scientific, but that is my experience/perception. Now MAOIs, that is a different story. I will experiment with chocolate in the future! I don't really want the longer trips out of shrooms but I would love to know if that was the reason for my loooooong adventure ![]() Thanks guys! ![]() |

![]() ![]() | Chocolate is NOT an MAO inhibitor. The erowid page sums it up succinctly: http://www.erowid.org/ask/ask.php?ID=2571 Even if chocolate did contain an MAOI, (and it doesn't!) milk chocolate contains only 10-25% cocoa solids... not very much real chocolate! I think you'd need to eat a LOT of pure dark chocolate for any hypothetical MAOI effect. Maybe you were just full and your body took a long time to digest the shrooms/cookies. I've noticed that my trips come on slower and last longer when I eat fatty foods with them or have a full stomach. Quote:

anymore. I just had the cookies, a pile of mushies, and then 3 or 4 beers throughout the night. I doubt I finished any of them. I tend to forget about beer when tripping. The cookies were quite fatty and I don't recall what I ate earlier in the day. I do eat a fair amount of fatty foods, but usually not a lot at any given meal (it's a lot easier to exercise off that way). I think the fatty food explanation is the best yet. Rate of digestion would be a simple, sensible answer to satisfy Mr. Occam. :Can anyone speak about what ends a mushroom trip naturally? Is it mainly that all the psychoactives are all filtered out of the blood and/or oxidized into simpler compounds? Is it the bodies release of protective MAOIs or other compounds from the liver? Some combination? ![]() | ||
