    National Geographic Writer Takes Ayahuasca

This is a very interesting article (with a video) about going to Peru for a series of Ayahuasca sessions. My ex-girlfriend's mother went there and hung out with the same shaman (don Julio) for a few trips of her own several years ago. It's a very well-written description of someone storming some gates that seemed a little over her head...

    Peru: Hell and Back—Video Exclusive

Deep in the Amazon jungle, writer Kira Salak tests ayahuasca, a shamanistic medicinal ritual, and finds a terrifying—but enlightening—world within.

The video included in the article is only a few seconds and just shows the blessing of the brew w/ tobacco, no actual shamanic journeying.

Ever wish you could get paid to travel to interesting, unusual places, meet the natives, enjoy their native medicines and then write it up afterwards?

i saw this a while ago i think.. this is the one where the shaman makes him stay in this jungle hut by himself for like 2 days completely alone.. that shit would be terrifying.

he also drinks some really disgusting bile or something from the shamans stomach... yuck no thanks.

Nope that's not it slipp3ry. That does sound nasty.

I liked the article. The writer was good at being "visual" . Also, I didn't know that Charles Grob had worked with Ayahuasca. I did know about his work with Psilocybin, though. We was (is?) working with terminal cancer patients. If anyone's interested, here's a video interview of him describing his work:
