Am wondering if anyone has ever taken mushies in the hope it could heal an illness or help them diagnose a persisting problem? And to any degree of success. Its sounds a little far fetched, but fits with how they have been used by certain tribal groups in central/south America as you may know. I am currently suffering from random nausea attacks and have not been able to work out since it began 6 months ago (I used to be quite fit). I am really getting depressed and concerned as the doctor is getting less and less sure about his diagnosis (peptic ulcer). Next stop is a camera down the throat. I am at the end of my tether. |

i feel that mushies have helped at least short term with my day to day mental focus... i like the fact the next day after mushies is usually clear and not hazy. but to physical cures.. never heard of anything... i will leave it to someone else to say " it couldn't hurt"

There have been a lot of scientific studies recently about this. One involving people ranging from like 20 - 55 or something. Anywho, many of the people in the study said that the experience was in their top 5 most important spiritual experiences of their lives. Many have reported feeling better both mentally and physically afterward as well, I would find the study but I am a little busy at work. To answer your question, lots of people use mushrooms to self-medicate, safely. |

At one point not too many years ago I realized the deterioration of my health. I stopped drinking, smoking excessively, eating meat, watching tv excessively, etc. I know happiness I never knew existed. I don't know you well enough to give any advice about what you are asking about the mushrooms, I know that I might have a hard time concentrating enough to diagnose myself on mushrooms if I couldn't sober, same goes with healing. Try pranayam and meditating on your questions maybe?

Thanks for the suggestions - I have either a peptic ulcer or a hietal hernia - really hope its not the hernia as this requires surgery to correct and is a problem for life. I did some research and found that cabbage juice heals ulcers, so I now have a juicer and some horrible juice. I much prefer this to just taking pills to see if they might work. I have postponed my drinking until I am well - not sure if I can stop forever as I like a drink. Xmas will be hard. I can be a little anxious, but I never have had a problem with it until now. Will await test results. |

i can't imagine this unique fungi to help physical illness... many of us have heard they can break up cluster headaches... i believe it could possible correct mental illness... depending on the sincerity of the mental illness... i've also heard that mushrooms may be used in conjunction with heroin abuse, in order to diminish the users want to abuse the opiate... so maybe in a sense that could help physical illness... save them from physical withdraw? but peptic ulcers sound serious.... who knows maybe you should try out an eighth and let us know if your symptoms reside

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Amazonians were in that study for cluster headaches and it was proved that they do work on cluster headaches. But, than again imo I believe shrooms, mesculine, and etc... can benefit where theres some physical or mental problems. |

Sorry to say it, but i highly doubt that shrooms are going to help with any kind of gastrointestinal ailment. In fact, many people experience gastrointestinal discomfort of some kind after ingestion including gas, nausea, vomiting etc. The active compounds in shrooms that we all love affect brain chemistry. I haven't read any evidence scientific or anecdotal that cubensis contain any other compounds that would effect intestinal health. There are however other edible and medicinal mushrooms that may help. I'm not familiar with the different health benefits of these species, but you might look into reishi, maitake or turkeytail mushrooms.
