I put a decent amount of dried salvia plain leaf in some water and let it sit for a few minutes to rehydrate. The amount used almost filled a Dixie cup when it smashed down and compressed quite a bit. I chewed it and moved it around my mouth for 15+ minutes total, sometimes getting a gag reflex and accidentally swallowing little bits a few times. It is very bitter. Towards the end of the chewing I felt like something was a little different. I spit it out, and lay down with my eyes closed in a dark room hoping for some visuals. My mind seemed to be more 'imaginative' than usual since I spit out the leaves. I felt like it almost could just be me, though. The first thing I noticed besides that, was a kind of pushing that SWIM gets from Cannabis sometimes. But, it was also a twisting. I was imagining that I was on small Ferris wheel or something O_o. This was still pretty mild though. Somewhat akin the state between being asleep and awake. The next part was more 'visual' -it was still more dreamlike, though. It wasn't like I was staring straight at anything fully concrete/there... Just a milder visual I guess. This describes it pretty good: "At first I wasn't sure if it was having more than a level 2 experience. Whenever I closed my eyes, I saw a lot of unusual things, but when they first started coming I was thinking that it was my overactive imagination. But then I realized that my mind is never that imaginative when I close my eyes. Not anywhere close." I reached to "not anywhere close" from that experience. I remember seeing a big kind of dark caterpillar, almost centipede-ish. Another thing was bunch of cartoonish monkey/lemur/people arranged in a V patter looking at me O_o. it was almost a freeze frame though, they weren't really moving around or talking etc. At this point, it wasn't getting any stronger and I was like, well this is weird and almost silly. So, opened my eyes and decided to get up, get a drink, and see how my body felt. My balance was definately affected. I had guessed it wouldn't be, but It was kind of a drunk stagger. I took a piss, and noticed that looking at a white wall in the bathroom was kind of hynotizing. I thought it must be the Ganzfeld effect amplified- sensory overload rather than deprivation. I stumbled back to the room and the effects subsided. It lasted about 20-30 min of the 'stronger' effects, another 30-40min of tapering off, plus the inital 15-20 of chewing. Overall, I though it was pretty weird rather than helpful or enlightening. Perhaps the K-Opioid receptor isn't the most fruitful place to target. I don't think I'll try it again anytime soon. It kind of made me wish I could draw, though- some inspiration from the 'visuals' at least.

I've actually never tried smoking it yet. I decided to take McKenna's advice: 'none of this smoking malarchy' -"honor the plant" haha I do feel I'd know what to expect more if I did smoke it, though. Another thing I should note is that I brushed my gums/cheecks/under the tongue etc. before taking it. I didn't have any listerine. I also had a couple drinks at dinner, but that was nearly 4 hours before. I think SWIM wants to go in a different direction than smoking salvia right now. It's just not that appealing. Perhaps some cactus tea. SWIM also has soma B. Caapi and Mimosa Hostilis laying around and some rue for that matter.Peace

The quid is much more natural. If it werent for the taste, it would be the way I go every time. I'm gonna dissolve some extracted salvia in some everclear and hold that im my mouth ......if I can.

Fresh quids are nice for a body buzz. They numbed whichever side of my mouth i had them on. Its similar to weed in some ways when chewed, but visually it doesnt compare to smoking. Chewing also wont give you the mind fuck sally smoked does.
