![]() | any advice on quitting smoking weed?
Last febuary afoaf was pulled over with 50 grams of weed afoaf got arrested for possesion and DUI for being stoned. So afoaf became another victim of this usless war on drugs afoaf has to spend 6 days in the can starting tuesday afoaf just lost his license on the 1st for 90 days and there putting afoaf in a outpatient program for a year. This is shaking afoaf at the core of everything to the point hes back home at his familys acreage not being able to survive on his own conemplating the next move he has to make basicly sitting in limbo. afoaf has smoked weed almost everyday for pretty much the last 12 years its been a big part of him spiritually as are many plants all his family smokes its part of them. Now uncle sams telling him hes gotta quit or suffer the judicial consequences of the state! This was afoaf first time in trouble with the law. I know one can quit physicaly but how does one swallow his own beliefs and do what some goverment tells him he has to do? If anyone thinks they have insight that could help afoaf please enlighten him.

You have two choices. Either comply with the courts or don't. Probably a bit over simplified. If you chose to not comply and continue smoking there may be some severe consequences. Added time in jail is not much fun. You might be able to fool the drug test's but I don't recommend that route. It is easy to fool a drug screen but an actual test (mass spectrometer) is very accurate and detailed. Honestly I can just recommend taking a short break from smoking. Remember the words of Nancy Reagan and it should be pretty easy..... after all, you can simply "Just Say NO!!" If it was not a felony charge they might not even piss test you at all. I personally would go to my court ordered treatment sessions with a joint rolled for the ride home. Never once did I get tested. Good luck, ggod |

Tell afoaf. Do what you gotta do and be really goddamn smart about your life from hear on out. Embrace the change an move ahead, there is no alternative. Things may not have been working on many levels with your old ways. And for some reason you got dealt a shitty hand. Someday you'll look back and reflect on the positive changes you "could choose" to go through because of this. I did some time for weed with a wife and kid. Wised me the fuck up. Something behind the scenes wanted me to learn some humility, I often think its the plants. I could hear a time or two while I was tripping in those days asking "why me"? an I'd get the answer "If your gonna carry the torch than you gotta get your shit straight and learn the rules. Be a smart soldier. There is no alternative" This should be the first and last time you deal with John Law. As far as quitting weed. Take a good shroom trip and make up your mind to quit. Then quit and you will be miserable for a couple of days and the you will be fine. Sorry to be so blunt. Look as far out front as you can and start creating your image of the future in the thoughts of the now and pretty soon you'll close the space between here and there.... |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | one difference between alcohol and weed is that alcohol can kill should you decide to take your moth from the bottle, where as i would actually recommend taking a brake from weed. It wont kill you and after a weak you barley notice it. trust me there is no rehab required also you get the added benefit of being an instant lightweight. now a days every time im in a room with tokers i start floating. so you can imagine what a drag is like for me now. I plan to start again when I can get a reliable source or when my government finally stops trying to help me whith what to put into my body. Dam nanny hypocritical state

As far as 'spirituality and plants' goes, cannabis is entry level, imho. DUI isn't a part of the 'useless war on drugs', personal responsibility is something that everyone in a civilized society submits too when they ask for permission to enter the roadways, which were provided to us by the Governement. Remembering that you once lived without cannabis, and happily, should be worthwhile for you. Quote:
The problem with quitting weed is that the general attitude is that it is harmless, so why bother? But if you've gotta put the pipe down, then you've gotta put the pipe down. Its no different than quitting any other habit (that doesn't have painful/deadly withdrawls). So, tell me, how 'spiritual' was your weed ritual? Did you actually pray to the weed god when you rolled joints and packed bongs? Probably not, I bet you just got high and called it 'spiritual' cuz it felt so good. You'll find through research that relying on external things to attain any sort of 'spirituality' is an empty path. Might as well claim that chewing cinnamon bubble gum is the stepping stone to your enlightenment. I think that you need a new hobby, one that doesn't revolve around packing bowls. Try something like yoga or tai chi. Its portable, like weed, yet there's nothing to find when you get searched. However it will take you much further, spiritually, than smoking weed will. I don't mean this in a sarcastic, facetious manner like my above paragraphs, I mean this to be the most serious thing you have ever considered, since 12 years of weed smoking is what you have currently found to be your 'height'. You just haven't been looking hard enough, and its due to a surplus of dank in your hand. Now that the dank has been taken away from you, you should realize that 'true' spirituality is finally available to you. Stop looking at your empty hand/bong!!! Look around you!! You're surrounded by It!!! Embrace It!

I agree that canabis is very entry level on a spiritual level i dont pray to the cannabis god but maybe i should have been. Ive found that cannabis allows me to slow my mind so i can focus on more spiritual matters. I also agree that dui is not a good thing at all as far as being personally responsible it had been 5 hrs since i last smoked i was good to drive by then. there was a warrant issued to take my blood because of the amount of weed and the cops making such a big deal its a small county. I am always responsible when it comes to driving i dont use any substance and drive and have on many occasions picked up people to intoxcated to drive. your probaly right when saying need a new hobby and that theres too much dank around its not really that i cant quit its the reason i have to quit i guess. what you say makes alot of sense to me guess im just at a point were i need change and thats what it was gonna take? thank you reading what everyone writes really lets me see it differently. |

The first 2 weeks is a bitch. Then it gets much easier, good luck and when it is all over if you want to smoke one go for it. But I would suggest complying no matter how bad it pisses you off,non compliant will just make matters worse IMO. Red

I'm an every day smoker and have been for years. Both last summer and this summer i went abroad for a month and had to go cold turkey both times. The first time, i was more nervous about not having weed than getting on a transoceanic flight! But really i was so busy hanging out with new people, family and seeing the sites that i completely forgot about it except late at night when i couldn't sleep for the first week. Keep yourself busy, hang out with people who don't smoke and as beastmaster says, get a new hobby. The hardest barrier to get over is your thinking that you need it. If you distract yourself from that thought, before you know it you'll have been without for a while and not miss it.

Yeah, I am a pothead, and I also had to quit for a few weeks to pass a whizz quiz. It sucked, but I needed a job badly, and my wife and son are monumentally more important than my getting stoned. It was not easy to refrain, especially with a jar full of Northern Lights at my fingertips! Just lay off the weed until your program is completed. It is mind over matter. Wasn't it proven that people drive better on weed? |

thanks everyone for all the advice the way beastmaster and raveneye put it really opened my perspective towards it. sometimes its hard to see another point of view when your so used to the one youve been seeing. I didnt smoke yesterday and i feel stronger or something. the hardest part for me is just getting away from it like i said my whole family smokes and i dont think i have any friends who dont smoke but mlbjammer can quit with a jar full of tasty northern lights then i probaly can deal witheveryone else smoking. thanks again for the kind advice everyone.

Give your stash away so you don't have the temptation. After a couple months of not smoking, you won't have the urge. Life will seem different, and the clarity which has been buried beneath layers of THC will come back to you. Being high every day is not a state of mind, or a lifestyle, it's an illusion. Living a clean and healthy lifestyle is the ultimate high. When you do smoke again, you'll see it as a tool, not a crutch. Good luck.

The best advice I can give is... Quit for you, not someone else. OOOO #2. Stay active. Do stuff that so you don't get bored and the craving to smoke starts to get to you. Plantman P.S. It's not a punishment, It's a test of strength. |
