WHY YOU SHOULDNT TRADE FOR SPORE

Hey folks,


Without mentioning names and such I just would like to say please be very careful trading for spore...


The person whom you trade why may not be very experienced or even very sterile in there procedure, so there is no guarantee you are recieving a viable product.

I myself find myself on the bitter end of an issue because I made a trade for something, and have yet to recieve the other half of the agreed package/deal.... which alone is screwed up!

But on top of it the SPORES i did recieve were GARBAGE...

I innoculated 15 jars of Liquid Culture

7 have totally contaminated while another 8 look skeptic or show no results at all.
I innoculated 7 quart jars of corn with THE BEST LOOKING JAR OF LC.....

3 days later nothing but green.

I have tried this with a few other of the LC's i have made up from the traded spores..

And i have gotten black pin mold.... as well as a variety of other colors...


MY SUGGESTION: do not trade for spores...

and if you do trade for spores...

Dont trade anything that is substantial that holds equity because the person may just be sending you un viable spores which are worth nothing in comparison to what you may have sent them.


in retrospect I should have realized the trade was bad when i recieved the packaging and the syringes were leaky, and i never recieved the second box.....


Im out my trade now, and cannot spend the money on a commercial vendors spores which I know will be viable!

Even commercial vendors can have syringes that are bad. Sometimes it just happens. I would hope that the person you traded with makes good on his end and replaces said syringes. Have you been in contact with the person since the trade?

Many of my strains in my collection I have gotten have been trades with people and some were bad and most good. I have had most of the people send me another print or syringe to make up for the bad, sometimes I have gotten nothing.

If you dont take a chance on it you will never know and until I can go to the local store and buy some spores, I will always be willing to trade spores to expand my collection. I would confront the person again and if nothing is made good on, then make it known who it is so others can watch out for trades with said individual, not make it so people are afraid to trade others who do in fact make good on their trades.

very true.... but what i traded holds equity and could not be considered not viable


im not a newb , and ive been around for awhile

the spores i recieved were totally amateurish

caps were falling off needles, not taped on atleast

leaky syringes.... etc

im not mad at the person, i just am warning others

that you should be aware

I spent alot of time and money on stuff i ultimately had to throw out and i will also add brought contams into my environment because of someone else's error.

I work inside a glove box too which makes things even all the more crappy..... if i would have known the syringes were so bad, i would have isolated on agar....

I think in retrospect if you trade for spore.... with a viable physical object that holds equity....

dont trust the persons word that the spore is viable

put it on some AGAR...

i feel your pain. awhile back i made a trade with some one and never did receive my package. so i basicaly got robbed. i was so pissed. so i have found that it is much better to trade with peeps you know. an with sumone you know has experience.

Most orders I have gotten from commercial suppliers the caps had fallen off the syringes. I am not saying the product you were sent was good to begin with, just that caps do tend to fall off syringes pretty easy during transit especially if they are not taped on.

Dude I traded an xbox and a bunch of games, controller, etc.....

And i was supposed to get spore and a bunch of other stuff to help me get started which was 2 boxes worth of stuff

instead i got one box of stuff.... with a bunch of what appears to be really bad spores, (i obviously have tried using them and have nothing but terrible results)

and there was a second box that was supposed to come with vacutainers and self healing ports . etc...

the second box never came..... lost at sea claims the sender..

I have spoken with the other party however , I traded for a bunch of stuff and at this point would only accept viable replacements which at this time im not sure if he can provide..

I was traded for like 15 syringes... and a bunch of prints....

to replace this with a viable commercial product or even a replacement of his own creation would require alot on his part, and is it neccesarily fair?

Im just not sure how anyone would approach this...

And that is why I say be careful when trading for spore... because
I have written this off.... If the dude wants to come through and
replace what he should then thats AWESOME, but as i said i have written it off..

me and dude are cool, i have NO hard feelings, I just am upset at my luck...

No mention of not recieving the second box.
Then I believe It was a week or more when you claimed the syringes were leaking/cracked.
I offered replacements. Did we not settle on a long syringe tip?
Indeed, I could not obtain a new long tip and told you that with many apologies and offered instead monies to cover the cost of the one you got on ebay Did I not?
You said not to worry about it. As for the second box I believe you recieved that with the other box as they were both mailed on the same day. I can not explain why you didnt get it. I do not know.
NOW you claim 14 of the 15 syringes I sent were "no good" and that your afraid to touch the prints I sent you. Apparently though there good enough to offer in a contest.
As for the xbox You know its rusted on the inside and wont play the games you sent. You said you played it up to the day you sent but when I asked about the rust you said it had been in your basement for awhile...
So instaed of flaming you about it I thought "oh well I can mod my xbox with the mod chip from the one you sent".. SURPRISE!! No mod chip.
When I noticed this thread I Pm'd you and offered to pay for some syringes from a sponsored vendor and have them mailed to you. Your reply was "gonna order and just give them my address are you kidding" ??? There seems to be no pleasing you. I am still willing to replace some (not all 15) syringes.

I am sorry for the Drama to all who read this. I love MYCOTOPIA and wouldnt put my name at risk for an xbox I could get from a pawnshop for $50.00. Again I am willing to replace some syringes direct from a sponsor if you want them, Otherwise this is dead to me.

I might have it.
I can't promiss that they will be clean but most of them are, certainly clean enough to go to agar and clean it it if needed but would probably be fine for syringe making
