it would be fact, law.
science admits evolution is unproved by calling it a theory,
if science is the standard
then evolution is by definition unproved
and thus teaching it should be banned
by the rule you proposed.
you can't just pick and chose because you like
one unproven theory more than another.
evolution requires a bit of faith in what cannot be proved,
just like religion.

I feel all this should be here...

seems the only 'rational' reason to come here in 'person'
would be to study and indeed even experiment with us,
we are what makes the trip worthwhile,
'we' meaning life in general, intelligence in particular.
if i were out there,
i'd want to know
just how smart
these killer apes really are.

my guess is we'll get this solar system,
in due time, with great effort and tremendous cost.
no reason for ET to contest that,
and settling this solar system will take us many centuries.
we'll proly launch some interstellar probes
which mysteriously fail .
but we are no threat
until we figure out interstellar travel,
whether it's possible to carry us across many lightyears
at a reasonable rate of speed.
even then we don't know the means,
whether it be through some wormhole that pops out
god-knows-where
or warp drive straight to the nearest star,
or folding space,
or even, god forbid, slower-than-light
in which case
it could be thousands of years before we become any threat.
still,
watching us makes sense. __
