If you have the red ring of death around the power button, that's a known hardware failure. You're going to have to send the box in for a replacement. Go to their web page, there should be somewhere you can go to fill out a return shipment request and then they will send you a box to send it back in.

    I'm on my third box.

Been there done that... here I still have the web page bookmarked...
    http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/repair...rror-codes.htm
go there; it has all the known error codes, and even some tips for getting more information from the xbox so you can call it it.

total turn around time from when I called it in to when I was playing again was 1 week.
(btw they send you a refurbished machine, not your own back)

Ah, the power of Micro$oft in all of it's might!
Best thing to do is pawn it or give it away to an enemy.
Go with something better, like an Activision, Atari 2600, etc.

Yep, the xbox 360 has a overheating problem. My buddy bought one new at some electronics store and bought their warrenty with it. I shit you not 3 weeks later he had to take it back because it over heated and fried the hard drive. But they replaced it and sold him a xbox cooling pad thats suppose to help. Me I am still partial to my old atari and I still love playing pong.

I thought Pong was the only game I'd ever need, and it's still going strong after 33 years! (No shit, one of these is still floating around in my family somewhere and at last check still worked).

Chances are another problem will surface. I don't know of anyone that hasn't had a problem with 'em. I wouldn't smash it, though, that's too mundane. You could always hang it up by it's controllers and do some target shooting or get creative and make the cords look like a noose and wrap it around the console. I might even suggest using the case to grow mushrooms in, but I'd figure that even the most hardy strain would stop growing after pinning, if they get that far, or the fruit would be without psilo.

One could easily make a list of '101 things to do with a dead Xbox', like they do with cats, dogs, and ex-wives.

Hell yeah, that's back when games were all about playability and fun and now it's all be replaced by graphics. Mind you, I enjoy good graphics, but it's really no fun when it's all bells and whistles and mindless, boring gameplay. I like finding a good balance between the two, but the good ol' still live on in ROMS (of which all NES ones are legal).

True, but early NES games are also some of the hardest, most frustrating games that I've played to date (a very IMO-esque statement, obviously). Even the simple platform style games...IE. Ice Climber. Any of the Early Zelda games...I don't know there's too many, but early NES games were tougher (haha also more repetitive and extremely frustrating...) than most games being produced today. Then again, I guess I don't really play much anymore, so maybe I'm a piss-poor judge of what's really up for offer on today's video gaming marketplace...
