![]() | its just a sh**ty situation all around... i think something bad is going to have to happen before it gets better. Oil is the blood of america, and its gonna take a nasty cut to drain it. The tough and negative times always push change. War often brings new technology, that is later used for other things besides war. This seems like the same scenario. To me it looks like the US will be dealt a devastaing blow, like no more oil... we grind to a halt and are forced to act. We either then take the oil we need from whoever has it by force, or we adapt and shed the chains that have held us for so long, and become self sufficient. I personally think the oil guys are shooting themselves in the foot right now... because now its too much, they are forcing the hand of their customers, and they are starting to go elsewhere. A drop in demand of 1.something percent translates into millions and millions of lost profit. I dont know where the answer lies, but i fully believe (sadly) that it will get alot worse before it gets better-- -on a side note, im in the process of converting a jetta into a biodiesel car... powered by McD's, screw the whole gas station ![]()

![]() | i hope we try something new before we run out. i dont think it is very wise to deplete the entire oil supply, what if the earth uses that oil for something, like lube for the plates, aand we use it all up, and the earth angril demands, "who used all my oil?", "ahhhhhhhhhhh!". i think hemp is the future, it has so many uses, and easy to grow, thomas jefferson knew his shit (refer to bye-line). i think things will become more localized, comunities will strengthen, and governmnet will have to be done localy, at least i hope nothing will 'replace' oil, we need to replace our world view with something more healthy...id love to stay and chew the fat, i could type forever on the subject of energy addiction, but then no one would read my infinately long post. plus i got to go to work. bye

![]() | Why not look abroad for some inspiration? After all, what did South Africans have before candles? Electricity But bear with my drunkedness seriously, its not so bad when the power supply gets rationed- I find my stays in SA to be relaxing mostly when they turn off the works on the block (streetlights, trafficlights, everything). Even if its only for a few hours, people get together- neighbours pop over to tea with their extra kettle water. And at night, man its divine- I wish I could turn off everything back here before bedtime, Im more sensitive to the houses wiring throbbing then ever before now- like a neural network computing round me whilst I slumber, stealing the dreamtime for selfish plots of its own... I miss you dearly mamma A...
