They are really playing the shit out of it.

And I'm sick of hearing about 2012.

Time will go on as it has for billions of years. Life will come and go. Prophesies of man are just predictions that have a 50/50 chance of being right. They are written by the hand of man and are no more than opinions as far as I'm concerned.

I just live for the day and make sure I have fun.

50/50? Can you name even one that came true? Tis the nature of humankind to goggle at seers and oracles and that can provide a cushy living for those seers & oracles, who are perfectly willing to offer up prophecies ad infinitum.

Thats true. It seems like the history channel used to be filled with a plethora of useful information, but now it only shows Nostradamus/2012 junk along with reality shows with little to no bearing on history (i.e. Ice Road Truckers).
And I have plenty of history books.

But I suppose that's what gets ratings.

I was just temporarily irked and do try to ignore it but I was wondering if I was not the only one.

Seriously though, you're absolutely right about the money-making opportunities of the near future (making you a prophet of profit, I guess

). As far as science has come, I think it's insanely ironic that we may well be heading into the most lucrative time in human history for snake-oil salesmen and fear profiteers (and like with Y2K, "disaster supply" sales ought to be brisk).

But some things have improved, I'd have to admit. It used to be that we needed a comet or eclipse to freak everybody out, but now we just all agree on a date, which makes scheduling issues much easier to resolve.

FUck Im glad this thread was posted, I have been dissapointed in the History Channel for grip now, It used to be one of the three channels I watched on TV, now that they are on this trip, I have none, dont get Discovery anymore, no more Adult Swim.. wtf..

Why dont they just let you choose which 20 channels you want to get from their packages, pay per channel or something..

To sum it up--History Channel has turned to shit lately

Yeah I wouldnt be missing much, but it helps me to get to sleep to listen to something on the tele with the dimmer on, and history channel would just give me fuckd up dreams these days.. lol.
