Good Beer Kits

They are a tad more expensive, but make really good beer, if they are available in your location.

I'll check out the price vs. the other brands and let you know how they fair up this way.

I'd recommend getting a recipe and putting together your own ingredients.

Buying pre-arranged kits is ok, but it's hard to learn about the impact of the different ingredients in the final product if you don't know what they are.

There's tons of resources for recipes online and a lot of good books out there. It's hardly any more work and the final product should be tons better.

Well sure, brax, making your own wort from all grains is damn hard to beat for flavor.

It does, however, require gathering ingredients, processing them, boiling the wort, etc. This is an investment in time, materials, equipment and space. Not everybody can make that effort or take the time.

Those beer kits don't have malt concentrate in them. They contain actual boiled wort, at the proper gravity so that making up to 5 gal with water gets you to the starting point right away.

I'm pretty lazy, so anything that skips a dozen steps to get me going is good in my book.

You'll save some money by putting the kit together yourself.
I like Northern Brewer and More Beer.
