![]() | It looks like a bolete of some sort. I have like 50 of those growing in a local forest near my house....the ones with the yellow pores. Getting an exact id on boletes can be a very hard thing to do....even harder when they are old. Look up boletus genus and you may be able to help find what they are exactly. This may help out: http://www.mushroomexpert.com/boletales.html http://www.mushroomexpert.com/boletus.html

![]() | i was gonna say if it was near an ash tree or a maple tree that it was an ash tree bolete, boletinellus merulioides. at least when i compared the pictures to my audubon mushroom book this was the particular mushroom it most resembled.

![]() | The colors match that of an ash tree bolete (cap and pores), but ash tree boletes don't have a centralized stipe or stem, and don't have round caps....not ash tree boletes. These are some ash tree boletes I found last season: ![]() They sorta look like ugly ass oysters with yellow pores. hehe not a very easy genus.

![]() | They were growing on the ground, not on a tree. They're just scattered around the lawns in our area. There are trees around, but I don't think we have any maples close by. The pretty rounded one was one of the few that looked like that, most of them looked pretty warped like the other. Hm. They're interesting though...the funky one we found next to our steps.
