Passing thought...some wild shrooms I saw today

Sorry, this might be a bit vague since there is no picture...but...I'm still curious!

So, me and a few buddies made a few trips down to the forest today... to study of course. I commented on how it was odd that we never see any mushrooms growing there. Coincidently it had just rained the day before. So, when I looked there were some shrooms growing out from this log. At first glance, they appeared similar to shrooms I had. So, I took a closer look. They had gills,were a pale yellowish color like cubes. However, the color seemed more uniform than with the spot in the middle of cubes.

So, from this, anyone have any idea what they could be?

If not, sorry for wasting your time, I'm a little tipsy and thought this would be the place to ask

. I realize it is hard though without a picture...

Not going to be able to tell by that description. Could be one of thousands of mushrooms, sorry.
