i picked about 50 lbs of morels last year....was a good year. i hunt mostly locally but some buddies and i go up to near "the bridge" in michigan for a weekend morelapalooza.....its always alot of fun. one guy this year found a "crown" of morels....basically 25 of them growing on top of one another. as far as recipes go i do have a few favorites ill post in lifestyles. if anyone here knows how to grow these i can totally provide a sporeprint lol! i hear they are growing morchella angusticeps (the black morel) in Scottville michigan. i have had minimal success spiking my washwater with molasses and pouring onto likely host trees 24 hours later. i got alot of yellows one year from a tulip poplar. anyone ever find strange morels? last year in michigan i found some that were bright white which we do not get here locally. and ive also found giant reds---which come out here late. a friend out west has found one with hairs on it...and here locally ive found Pecks morels to...which some ppl call browns and others think are just a different type of black.

i have an actual photo of a giant red , i found them in the days before i had a digital camera and used a 35mm for everything..... the whites werent so white by the time we got them back to camp. there were 5 of us hunting that day and everyone was in general agreement that they were very white....we found yellows and greys within 50yrds of the whites. alot of the locals where we hunt call any non black or non yellow morel a "white".
