ID - Possible Reishi or Ganoderma tsugae

Ganoderma found in Eastern Ontario, most likely Tsugae since it was found on an old hemlock. Pretty well attached too, had to use the hatchet in the picture.

Good job on the ID. It can't really be confirmed which species without a microscope, as there is a lot of variation between species, yet, you can usually get a good idea based on your geography and the wood it was growing from.

Either way, all Ganoderma are considered medicinal, so if you like choking down bitter tea in pursuit of good health, go for it.
