The use of higher fungi in making powerful bio-filters is being explored precisely because of some species' ability to hyper-accumulate toxins, up to 10,000 times background levels in some cases (I believe this is the case with Grifola frondosa, and the study was referring to heavy metals found in soil). Some pesticides are broken down by fungi, and cubensis does this with organophosphates, which are what many pesticides and some recipes of nerve gas are made of. That doesn't mean they'll be safe if you wait awhile after spraying before eating them, however.
So, pesticides are just one thing among many to worry about mushrooms picking up. Be sure of the source of any mushrooms you eat (psychedelic or gourmet), and don't spray crap on a grow to knock down the gnats.
