Was short notice but JUST noticed it on their website so posted because of the staggering amount people noticed on forums when they do actually mention where from just how many are from that area.....L.A., San Diego(S.D.), the O.C. smack in between the two and of course the Inland Empire....short notice but hopefully someone was able. San Diego also has their own organization SDMS http://www.sdmyco.org/ where they are lucky enough to be based and have their meeetings at the incredible Balboa Park in this IMG_1283..jpg (226.4 KB) building....this is the front entrance for their meetings..... and where also their annual IMG_1326..jpg (194.0 KB) Mushroom Fair is held each year down there. Interestingly Morels are well established there just outside the door and thru out the complex in the planter beds where it is their common practice to continually spread wood chips around. Also the palms pictured are part of one of the elite palm collections in the western U.S. These are the only two organizations in their area.

![]() ![]() | ![]() Dunno not in that area right now....those pics were from a San Diego Mushroom Fair sometime back but from the sound of the heading on the website linked: "May 19: (Monday) 8:00 PM LAMS General Meeting. The May meeting of the 2007-2008 mushroom season will be held in the Times Mirror Meeting Room at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, 900 Exposition Blvd in Los Angeles. Speaker: Dr. Else Vellinga Univ. of Calif. At Berkely Topic: Mushrooms: Paths of Diversity Dr. Vellinga’s talk covers different ways we can look at mushrooms, what we have discovered in the last few years from new records for the USA to new species, What molecular methods to distinguish species have taught us about evolutionary relationships among species and therelationships of fungi and the environment." Sounds like it should have been very good. Sure it had to be a very interesting talk... Here's a couple more from San Diego...some Spidey action. Cropped...should of took some close ups... Cortinarius fulmineus (elegantior) in action. ![]() ![]() Just a little bit of San Diegos man-made and shroom-made architecture. ![]() The Palms here are mostly Phoenix reclinata and looks like probably a couple taller Syagrus mixed in. The frond directly overhead sure is a "Paradise Palm" Howea (Kentia) forsteriana. |
