toad stool ID

High there!

I posted this in general discusions last night. I was directed to post here, with pics
1st post, be gentle I'm a virgin. Never tripped on shrooms. Not sure I want to. Did LSD twice- 20 years ago. Did mecaline 3x 25 years ago. Glad I had these experiences, but don't love the feeling. Smoke very minute amounts of weed 1/4 oz good stuff, lasts a month or more! temperence is a virtue. My priest is cool with my moderate use. Have not been drunk in 15 years. I'm a 2 beer guy.

I totally enjoy hunting shrooms. got into it 5 years ago. This year in the Northeast- New England has been great. Got 5 lbs chickens 5 lbs. hens. chanterells, boletes etc.

Lets talk temptation...I found a beautiful, bright yellow toad stool. A. Muscaria? Also found quite a few gyms, but are afraid that they are gallerinas. Found a couple clumps of an exact look alike to liberty caps, but not in a pasture, Don't think they are the real deal.

Anyway, here are the pics of the Amanita Muscaria var Formosa?
The ones that are not as yellow, ya think they are the same? Next step spoere prints, so far the first one was white.

Some cool pics...Amanita are just amazing with the colors sometimes like that....looks and sounds lke your findin al ittle bit of everything...finding Porcini type Boletes ? Cant beat Hens and Chants...Yellow Black or Cinnabar Chants or all the above "

The first 2 on left definately Amanitas and definately not Muscaria whatsoever and different from the 3rd shroom over which is also Amanita but I'm not seeing enough there to definately say that is a Muscaria variety....remember Amanita account for by far most mushroom related deaths so....dont even think of eating that thing...the shroom far right appears to be slightly scaly capped form of Laccaria close to Laccaria laccata which can be highly variable (as all shrooms)....and dont ever eat anything someone tells you is OK over the internet....they can be wrong and you alot worse...get some pics and post of the Boletes Chants, Libs, etc also...

EDIT: see we posted same time..

DONT EAT UNIDENTIFIED MUSHROOMS !!!!!!!!!

KEEP YOUR PHONE PREDIALED ON 911 THE PHONE AND LEAVE A SHROOM IN THE FRIDGE FOR PARAMEDICS !!!

Dont eat Amanitas unless you are able to identify them yourself and especially if they dont have a boatload of identification markers all in COMBINATION present and clearly accounted for...I can tell you your Amanita are missing them from that pic...Musacria aren't worth it anyway...

Good advice! I was testing the waters there a little bit -I'm new to the site. Yes, right this minute I'm digesting chantereles, a couple porcini, maitake, and chicken of the woods! I even ate a 4" bolete, the one that stains blue. I read that the blue goes away when cooked, but it didn't...it was like food coloring.

I've been seeing a lot of purple mushrooms, are these edible blewits? Or could hey be something else?

Muscaria var. Formosa have sent me into mad twitches blurred vision and hallucinations... not the good kind. Thought I was going to have to go to the hospital.

Amanita is not for someone who is not and expert on preparation.. There is an important proces. You will need to do lots and lots of study before gathering enough info to do it right. a red amanita is a better place to start with learning about amanitas.

Peace,
Subbal

Ps. Awesome pictures by the way... keep up the good work!!

Ya you weren't kidding....some great stuff there!!!...and those Chickens look nice and tender....and what spectacular color on the Purplish color shrooms although thet're comin out Bluish on my screen and not "Blewit" but something called Cortinarius....close to Cortinarius iodes...NEVER eat a CORTINARIUS !!!

Here was a fairly recent storiy concerning a type of Cortinarius...

Dateline....Scotland September 3, 2008
Horse Whisperer author, Nicholas Evans, poisoned by wild mushrooms

"The best selling author of the Horse Whisperer faces a 'long haul' of kidney dialysis after eating highly-toxic mushrooms."

Nicholas Evans, whose book was turned into a film starring Robert Redford, picked them while walking in woodland with his family.
The millionaire author was taken to hospital where he was given dialysis to combat the effects of the rare Cortinarius Speciosissimus mushrooms, which can cause kidney failure. "

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...mushrooms.html
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/new...cle4660269.ece

"Nicholas Evans, 58, his wife. Charlotte, 50, her brother, Sir Alistair Gordon-Cumming, 54, and his wife, Lady Louise, 46, consumed Cortinarius speciosissimus, a rare species that can cause renal failure."
"After falling ill two days later, on Bank Holiday Monday, they were taken to Dr Grays Hospital in Elgin. The two men were transferred to a renal unit at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary the following day and their wives were moved last Wednesday"

Safety tip.... NEVER EAT CORTINARIUS !!!

Right you are!

Here is how I like to prep and eat:

Start with this delicous curry sauce:
8 to 10 tomatos slice into about six pieces put in sauce pan skins included, start the boiling, mash them up.
Two onions (4:1 ratio onion to tomato) slice up and simmer in covered frying pan with splash of olive oil and three tblsp of minced garlic
Once it's mushy, dump it into the tomatos.
Now for the spices: to taste -the more spicy the better, it's Indian food!
Powderd Curry (of coarse)
Ginger
Hot sauce- Tabasco
Salt and Pepper
Italian = Parsely, Basil, Oregano, etc.
Add about a cup or two of milk as it boils down. Let it simmer and boil down while stiring for a few hours as it makes the whole house smell good!
Let it get a little thicker than speghetti sauce.
Now for the Mushrooms: this recipe I did with Chanterels
Stir fry musrooms in olive oil and a little garlic. With Chants, put on the side and dip in sauce. With Chicken of the Woods, stir fry and then mix into sauce and pour over rice.
