Half-free morels - Mid Atlantic

Found these on 4/23- 25 in Mid-Atlantic, on the outskirts of a pine forest, transitioning into older hardwood. I only found 'em in this one small area, looked for hours elsewhere but never found more. I was really hoping for a few more

Weather:

Warm temps; averaging mid 70s during the day, topping out at 90 one day, a good 3 days of rain the previous week.

no milking the pecker-heads for me... sorry, it just sounds wrong.
You can get cultures online, but you better be committed.

Nice finds moldylogic!

I found a few greys, a possible black and a few yellows in the past few days. Oddly no half free/peckerheads. Last yr I found several half-frees in the same location. May still be time yet. We'll see.
Hope you dont mind if I add a pic of my finds here.

The big one on the left I have been watching for over 3 weeks. It was as small as the little gray on the right when I found it initially. I checked every 3-5 days and just in the past week it busted out some decent growth.

I found a shit load of half-free, last week. Only picked a couple to identify, cause I thought they were false.

Next time I'll know better.

Wow that's a nice haul. Those aren't half-frees in the pic, at least most are not.
Most look like yellows to me. very cool trips!

Ah just noticed the half-frees on the side,cool.

Well that was my first time hunting for them, so I'd say not bad for a first timer. Me and my family ate most of em and dried the rest, to put in seasoning.

cool thanks...these do not look appetizing even tho i love how morels look. im new to hunting and recently found some actives. my next goal i think is to find something edible and cook it up!
