![]() ![]() ![]() | ID help on big mushroom
I have a maple tree at the back of my property that has a little cave like structure in the base of the trunk. All spring and summer it has had mushrooms sprouting from it. The other day I noticed a little head going back into the hole, not sure what it was but it was munching on the mushroom! Any ideas what this is?

It may be a Volvariella bombycina, if it has a pink spore print and smells like bean sprouts. Oh dang - I see I was late getting this typed.
