most APPEAR(not positive id) to be liberty caps. you are going to need to take better pictures in better light and tell everyone about the habitat.i.e. grasslands with sheep, what country, what they were growing on(substrate), and describe the look of them, stem, cap, gills, annulus and so on..... g'luck to you brother!!!!! PEACE

Cope is right, I got too excited there. They APPEAR to be psilocybe semilanceata. Make sure you double check all the ID points. Go here.... http://www.mushroomjohn.org/psilocybesemilanceata1.htm and here... http://www.lycaeum.org/mv/mu/semilanceata/_index.html gelatinous pellicle is a good solid ID point as well. Where did you find them?? (type of area) |

urm well i found them on the side of a very steep slope, where sheep graze, and there are very wet conditions. they are mostly orange and brown, but some seem very big, can they grow to this size?? the stems were i think all white, and were thin and straight ish, exept on one of the big ones which curled round alot. i dont think they bruise blue, but i will try and make a spore slide. also i found them quite spread out so if i take a slide how do i know that it applies to them all??

They do appear to be P. semilanceata. Its a good idea to make spore prints of all of them at first. If you don't print them all, carefully examine the gill color and other features of the mushroom to make sure they are all the same. |

the pellicle is like a like a stretchy gooey film over the whole cap of the mushroom, if you split a cap carefully at the edge you will see how the film holds together. Doesn't work so well on a dry cap though. or I think some people just lightly grab the cap with their forefinger and thumb and see if the "skin" stretches out from the actual cap. |
